  • Why don't you educate me.

  • Played this game since I got the beta in 2007. Had it installed on Kubuntu 22.04 but I'm having problems in 24.04. I think I'll work on it this weekend.

That aside, I hope Shattered Sun is linux compatible.

  • I think the real issue is we're using undocumented immigrants to do these jobs. They don't get the same protections that legal workers get.

  • Well, this is what happens when you depend too much on the US. Maybe they'll learn their lesson and rely more on other countries.

  • They should just make their own Lemmy instance and stop bitching.

  • Oh yeah. I get that too. I'm sitting here talking about the most random shit with my cousins and bam! Facebook got an ad for that.

  • I used to spend time on Facebook catching up with friends and family. That was way back in like 2010. I can't stand that platform now. It's all AI trash and random reels. I don't even know why I'm getting some of these reels but I suspect they are sharing data with other platforms like YT. I miss the internet of the 2000s...

  • Does Reddit have some sort of contract with X with regards to sharing of content? I know they have one with OpenAI.

  • Who said anything about competency and honesty?

I did in the post you were replying to. I didn't move the goal post because I stated that at the very beginning. And I'm not defending anyone (I assume you meant Trump). What I've been trying to say is it is unlikely that Ross bribed Trump to get the pardon and it far more likely that Trump was fulfilling his campaign promise to the Libertarian party.

  • Where the hell do you live? Not gonna give up my address to you but I'm in America.

I know people who've been to prison. I've made those phone calls with them to handle finances. You say I'm wrong but won't say how. It's a fact that they monitor every phone call an inmate makes. It's a fact that inmates cannot give consent and thus cannot enter into contracts, something that running a business needs. They would have to do everything through someone legally representing them, typically a lawyer, and that's no guarantee that their representation would do thing that are illegal for them. The prison IS supposed to protect the public from the inmates, that's why they have guards. So how am I wrong?

  • Actually he was never convicted for hiring a hitman.

Check out some of these videos.

  • You edited your comment from what it was. I was replying to the original comment where you said something like Power of attorney makes someone an attorney.

  • Did you even read what I said?

You think a competent honest lawyer would risk their career doing something like bribing people with an inmate’s money?

How much hand holding do you need? Reading comprehension much?

  • They don't have access to an inmate's finances. But it may be against a prison's policy for an inmate to go into certain contracts. This is dependent on the inmate's conviction and each prison system. The prison also doesn't allow any privacy so running a business while in prison will be picked up and disciplinary action will be taken. The prison is supposed to protect the public from the inmate so it would look really bad if an inmate is running a business from prison. It can be a threat to the public and prison if they are able to control outside money from prison because then they could continue to commit crimes.

So yeah I warden doesn't have access to things like bank accounts or brokerage accounts but they control all forms of communication.

  • I don't think that Ulbricht had the capability to bribe Trump. I think that Lemmy and Reddit users are trying to justify Trump's pardon by saying it was done through illegal activity (bribery) instead of campaign promises. That's why I say they are making up conspiracy theories. Now I believe he can be bribed because of all the felonies he got from issuing bribes.

  • That is literally NOT the definition of a lawyer.

  • I never said he wasn't. If I had the cash I would ask for favors too.

  • You think a competent honest lawyer would risk their career doing something like bribing people with an inmate's money?

EDIT: Also how about you read what you linked and the thread you are replying to. The conversation was about being in control of your assets while in prison. A revocable living trust is primarily used in estate planning to determine who will get your property when you die. Now can you explain how an inmate can use a revocable trust to bribe a politician into pardoning them?
