  • Why would anyone think to "raise awareness" about America's gun problem in the comments section about the Canadian government possibly covering up an illness on behalf of a major Canadian industry? I don't buy that for a second, but even if it is the case, they are distracting from what doesn't get much attention.

  • Surely they had to put some thought into it

Holy shit, mindless doesn't mean "no thought." lmao

A bit of research at the very least

Irony. You know what is the least amount of research one can do? Look up a word in the dictionary.

But that being said, why even attempt to pedantically defend attacking America when we aren't even discussing America at all?

  • What you are saying is not true. Plenty of people, even adamant supporters, were concerned about how he sounded, but ultimately said he would do a fine job because he had proven himself to be an effective executive. The only people denying, in whole, that their candidate is perfectly fine are Trump supporters. They can't do otherwise as it's a cult, and he's the cult leader.

  • He spent months, or even years, saying his political opponent was not mentally fit enough to be president, especially because of his age. He is now showing that he is the candidate who is not mentally fit enough to be president, especially because of his age. Any chance to point this out, even if the individual instance might have another explanation, is perfectly fair game.

Although, I will agree with you, that he actually doesn't give a shit about these people and that might explain the lapse too. But that ain't any better.

  • This is the way I do it. Often I just divide by ten and multiply by two, but I'm a generous tipper, and it's one less head math step.

The funny thing is that this basically how common core math works: get to the answer by doing as much easy math as possible.

  • There is no rule stopping women from joining the NBA. It's just that no woman currently is able to compete at the highest level when men are included; the whole point of the WNBA is that, without it, there are no professional women in the sport.

In other words, it's not the same job: one is an NBA player, the other a WNBA player. The WNBA exists precisely because women can't do "the same job" but there is a market for watching women do the job. It's just not as big as the market for people playing at the highest level of competition.

The reality is that if the market were bigger, they'd make more money. Help make the market bigger. Be the change you want to see in the world.

  • He's a piece of shit because his policies are terrible. Whether or not his current actions are congruent with his actions as a teen, which is true for most all of us, are two separate things.

I don't believe he's genuine, but if he is, like I am with my current beliefs, stupidity as kid shouldn't be held as some evidence against who he is now.

Don't get me wrong, when I first saw this my reaction was "he's the gift that keeps on giving" but after some introspection, the more I think about it, the less I like it.

  • I went to a summer camp in the 80s and 90s and we had this big event where the camp was separated into groups and each given a country. There were a ton of events, but some of the events were writing a song about the country and then another where you would act out some spirit event for the country. Always points for being dressed up with "traditional" clothing from the country.

It was a wretched hive of cultural appropriation and stereotypes. The song I remember the most is about how everyone was starving in Ethiopia. I saw some pictures of us all dressed and man oh man, if I were running for office those would be incredibly embarrassing.

Know what I know now, I realize how wrong the whole thing was and doesn't represent me at all 30 years later. In fact I even stand against these things now.

One could easily look at these and claim im some massive hypocrite. But the reality is that I was a dumb teen having fun and now I've grown up.

On some level, I feel bad for people who think we should hold shit that happened as a teenager against us...like were you not out having fun being an impetous dumbass? Is these nothing you did as a teenager that you wouldn't do now or think is wrong?
