  • Bro all I said was that you can't expect people to be nice to you if you're being an asshole to them. Don't care? Cool. Then keep being an asshole.

YOU are the one that got all angry and started making accusations and treating identity like an insult. Which, btw, has all been imagined because I literally have not argued a single position this whole time. "People like me" lmao. You clearly have some pent up rage that you're just waiting to unleash on anyone who you imagine fits that mold.

"Misogynistic language" in this context is just a phrase you're using to shut down conversation, just like you tried with cishet.

  • Hahahaha, nah, it's just funny when people who think like you can't handle people not praising you for being so enlightened. Think what you want about me. Weird that you're bringing identity into things considering you don't know anything about me. But at least I don't have to waste more time with you. Seeing you added nothing I accept your concession, you can't win them all. Just lose with more grace next time.

  • Lmao you don't know even know what you're arguing against. I never said anything about whether you should be polite, I just said that if you're going to be a cunt you can't complain about people being cunts back

Also if you did 5 minutes of research you'd see that c/comedyheaven@lemmy.world doesn't allow any kind of hate speech, there are no slurs in any of the comments, and our most recent post removal was because of ableist and racial slurs. But go off I guess

  • I'm just gonna link to the Wikipedia page for government. That way every position is covered and we can save ourselves from the inevitable slap fight when people can't accept that their interpretation of the "purpose" of government are just interpretations and almost everyone has a different one

  • Eh, you can definitely use verifiable facts to derail a discussion.* It all depends on context and whether those facts are being framed truthfully and with good faith. There just isn't enough context to go off of here. I don't really care about OP's politics because the point stands whether I agree with his politics or not

*Edit: See the book Merchants of Doubt about how cigarette companies in the 70s misused scientific findings to cast doubt on the link between cigarettes and cancer. Stuff like pointing out how women and men had similar smoking rates, but not cancer rates. They left out the part that women smokers tended to be much younger. Thus, in a couple decades their cancer rates matched men's, but by then the damage was done. Bam - use of verifiable facts to lie and derail

  • What I was thinking too. X-tard is ableist and plain dumb. I wish we could actually read the post and comments, though, because it's hard to tell what OP was really saying. Is he claiming that dissing on MLs is racist? Hard to say, but if he is that's ridiculous

  • I'd be curious to see which would be more practical: a decentralized version of Lyft/Uber powered by blockchain, or an employee-owned version of Lyft/Uber where workers keep all their earnings and pay a small portion for administrative fees to keep the app running.

Admittedly I'm always skeptical of blockchain's ability to actually solve problems. But maybe it would have fewer infrastructural costs? Who knows

  • Tbh I'm just sad that as a society we don't accept aging. It would be so much easier if we didn't fight it. So she looks like she's 60 years, so what, she is 60 years old (I'm assuming lol). Whether I look like her or Tom Cruise at their age, I want to not care. I want to be happy. Who needs to look that good at 60? The only people you should be trying to attract at that age are similarly aged people
