  • While that's true, there are objectively different levels of 'just working' though.

I've never spent so little time googling how to fix things as I do with Ubuntu or Mint. It's much more frequently needed and time consuming on other Linux OSs, iOS, Windows, Android. Haven't personally used Mac.

Also, I've always found a fix on Ubuntu. The same can't be said for other OSs.

That's just personal examples, but the general idea still stands: different systems have a different amount of bugs, (or worse, 'features') and the difficulty of fixing them isn't the same for everything either.

  • Any phone larger than my 2016 iphone SE. I have a fairphone and it's everything I've ever wanted in a phone but it's SO BIG. It has a one handed mode, but that turns itself off whenever you tap the back button, which is so annoying it's making me aggressive. I used to lie in bed, chilling, looking at memes with one hand while the other arm was cosily under the blanket. That's a thing of the past. I also can't rest the hand I have chronic pain in because I always need to use both hands to not keep dropping my phone and reach all of the screen.

  • Teal is greenish blue, turquoise is bluish green. But tbh why not consider both of them colours of their own. Green isn't a primary colour either, if we consider that its own colour, why stop there?

  • You're not immune to advertising and propaganda. Nobody is. Ads almost never work by directly making you think 'i should buy this'. You're even less immune to advertising and propaganda if you tell yourself you are, because that'll make you less interested in working against it.

  • Imo there's no such thing as 'paid enough to care'. If I'm not paid TO care, specifically, I wont care. I'm not wasting my mental energy to create more profit for the shareholders if I'm not directly incentivised to do so.

  • Everyone should be protected from having their consent violated, regardless of how despicable of a human they are. Human rights extend to all. The right to consent is non negotiable. We should just guillotine them instead. Quick and painless, but gruesome enough to set a good example.

  • Thousands compared to a population of over a million is very negligible. Even if every single one of them actively targeted civilians. 'A negligibly small percentage' is sometimes colloquially referred to as 'practically zero'.

  • That is usually how a genocide is justified to the public. Every member of the 'undesireabe' group is guilty of being an undesirable, and can thus be justifyably murdered.

    Examples:

All Jewish people are guilty of some conspiracy and/or killing Jesus

All Muslim people are guilty of replacing white christians and/or terrorism

All LGBTQ people are guilty of grooming kids

All Palestinians are guilty of 'occupying' Israeli land.

    etc.

Every example of this is a tool of propaganda to get the public to go along with unfair treatment up to and including genocide. The fact that they're all easily refuted doesn't matter. It goes hand in hand with the view that the group aren't fully people.

This reasoning is never ok, no matter what group of people it's used against this time. When you recognize it, call it out for the sham it is.

  • What kind of stuff are 5yo supposed to be learning? I just hope it's not to the detriment of those things. Like how people who skip too many grades never get a chance to learn social skills because they're too busy with more theoretical stuff.

  • To be fair that means the education system has failed you in that regard. That probably contributes to the anti vax cult, they're simply not taught why vaccines are important and what they help prevent.
