Meteorites are ones that get through the atmosphere, I'm talking about ones that burn up in the atmosphere. Those are called meteors (shooting stars) though the very small ones most often won't be visible.
Asteroids are not a big deal, it's only when they're the really big ones that they're a problem, little ones from the size of a grain of rice to the size of a basketball hit the atmosphere all the time and you don't see people worried or freaking out about those.
There were instances like that in the past, Exploding-Heads being the most popular example. They're absolutely miserable to be in because most of the people are hateful assholes because civility rules aren't enforced there.
Probably wouldn't be impossible but I'd imagine a race like that probably wouldn't have become space fairing, they would've continued to live on whatever dark world they lived on, as bright light would be their Achilles heel. It's also unlikely that with those eyes they would be able to see the fine details in things. So while I don't doubt those eyes being possible, they wouldn't be at all beneficial to them as a space fairing or technologically advanced race, it would hinder them greatly.
Also something else I've heard which makes it even more absurd is that (sometimes, not always) they're said to have permeable skin like amphibians, which makes the whole idea of them taking space exposure without any kind of space suit or PPE that much more absurd.
It's so weird that people imagine that space fairing aliens looking like that. Such traits seem like they would be detrimental. Especially those massive eyes, which would probably be extremely light sensitive to the point of being effectively blinded by most light sources, and probably wouldn't be able to focus light well at all.
I wouldn't hire them as a bodyguard if they can't/won't keep their phone charged. Reliable communication is just as important as being physically able to protect your clients.
Yeah I'd say you dodged a bullet there. I always thought the amount of praise they received was unnatural and suspicious and like they would potentially use people's information against them since they are crooks after all.
I'm glad to see I was right about that, and I don't feel bad that I didn't sign up for RealDebrid when everyone was hoping on the hype train for it.
Hopefully they will get what they deserve, at the very least get their Trustpilot banned and lose any and all appearance of being a good and not shady business it gives them. Because they are a shady and not legitimate business, they don't act like one, and their service doesn't have any practical usage that isn't related to piracy. Seriously the legal usage of Debrid services is so niche that if that were all you could do with them we probably wouldn't have them at all.
The people on that subreddit are sad and pathetic shills, they kiss up to that company and attack anyone who criticizes them and deny the fact that it's the end for them.
Then they complain that they can't add their pirated content yet still insist that the service isn't broken or that it's still working fine.
That's a good point, the people who start these kinds of services, especially in countries like France tend to be of the SovCit delusional variety, and they probably do indeed believe they are invincible or won't get in real trouble for what they're doing.
They should know that it's not going to help them, especially them trying to accuse all people giving criticism of their service to be fake reviews and attempting to dox them. If anything that'll hurt them and just end up getting their TrustPilot account banned.
I mean they should be aware that criminal charges stack up right? They're not going to get anything good from making their own situation worse by doxxing customers (multiple comments on their profile giving out the email addresses of their customers). That isn't going to help them and is just going to make it so much worse for them.
They would like people to believe that there is some worthwhile usage because they don't want to get shut down or end up bankrupt if people stop paying for the service.
Which despite the amount of people trying to convince others its still working, is dwindling and will dwindle even more once they remove most of the torrents and block most copyrighted media.
Its not really intended for that, it for bots that run thousands of clicks a minute to bring the site up in a search algorithm.
I think as a script thwarting method against low effort spam, they are over-engineered to the point of being hostile towards users because they indeed do try and target those types of spammers and bots, and also making the experience miserable for real people with hidden fail-states and shadow-bans and many hidden rules.
The sad part is that these don't really stop bots, captcha solver services have bot accessible APIs which can be used to solve these things for malicious actors, they pay real people pennies to solve them and sell it as a service. Similar to click farms.
Yet they expect us to praise them for it and excuse them treating us like criminals when the criminals have easier access than we do. Fuck that, reCaptcha is useless for its intended purpose, and anyone who says otherwise or excuses its usage is a shill or an idiot.
Sometimes I think about paying for a captcha solving service myself to be able to skip them when they get annoying. If they continue to get worse I might do that, and I'd encourage others to do the same if they desire to.
