  • It seems to be from some kind of Reddit end of year highlights reel. I think OP probably engaged with the post about Apollo shutting down a lot (voted, commented, maybe viewed it a great deal of times, etc.) and so Reddit served them this little "highlights" card.

OP is now sharing it here as a "remember where we came from / fuck Reddit amirite" post

  • There WOULD be more suburbs to develop if we were allowed to work remotely. I would gladly move to the developing suburb of bumfuck-nowheresville if I could go there and keep my job, but I have to stay within a reasonable commuting distance of the nearest metropolis.

  • There is a massive list of HSA eligible expenses, too. I am not advocating that people go out and spend their HSA money frivolously, but if you need to buy something that seems medical-related and you already have HSA funds, maybe look into getting reimbursed.

The coolest one to me is if you're overweight or at risk for things like diabetes or atherosclerosis you may be able to get your doctor to write you a note allowing you to get things like fitness classes, gym membership fees, or fitness equipment (stationary bike, treadmill, etc.) paid with your HSA funds. In many cases prevention is the cure, and exercise is hugely hugely beneficial in preventing and managing a wide range of maladies so if you stick to it you may actually be saving yourself an even bigger medical expense down the line.

  • Just FYI, the generally preferred term these days is "massage therapist." Last I heard "masseuse" and "masseur" (the masculine version) have an implicit sexual connotation that "massage therapist" does not. Unless that's what you were recommending instead of chiropractic, in which case carry on!

  • How to change your vehicle's tire SAFELY.

Basic home maintenance or at the very least troubleshooting and diagnostics when something breaks so you can give the repair tech better info when they arrive.

Basic home cleaning. This one might sound obvious but the number of people I've worked with who've never held a mop before astounds me. Learn to do your own laundry and clean your bathroom and kitchen well and efficiently. Learn what it takes to do a quick clean and a deep clean and do them on a schedule.

  • Sometimes you don't even get the product if you pay for the product. AC: Odyssey will be in my Steam library forever unplayable because I had to delete my Ubisoft account for being hacked into and their support team absolutely refused to let me associate the game I purchased and thought I owned to a new Ubisoft account.

Fuck those guys. I will never pay money for their games ever again.

  • https://us.lskd.co/ has some pretty steep drops on activewear and they're pretty good quality

https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2023/11/the-best-sports-tech-fitness-deals-black-friday.html DC Rainmaker keeps a pretty good list of sports tech deals. This guy has been the go-to reviewer of this stuff for several years and definitely knows what he's talking about.

https://www.moosejaw.com/content/p-Thanksgiving-sale Moosejaw always does a pretty good sale around this time of year. (they're a lot like REI and offer extremely easy free returns)

https://www.lodgecastiron.com/shop?Sale=All%20Sale%20Items&page=1 Oh, and Lodge cast iron is running a sale. They seem to only discount their most popular products once or twice a year so this is a good time to grab a few items

  • Among children and young people aged 0 – 19 years in the US, COVID-19 ranked eighth among all causes of death; fifth among all disease-related causes of death; and first in deaths caused by infectious or respiratory diseases.

It was not even true a year ago, actually, unless you slice the data down to only look at deaths caused by infectious or respiratory diseases which, frankly, feels like a pretty obvious outcome for 2020-2022.
