Setup cloudflare, I believe the free tier includes ddos protection. Then setup your ingress to only allow cloudflare IPs, either with iptables or even better if your vps supports it with a network policy.
Thanks for the info! Do you happen to have any more info on the attack itself? Was it generally linked to Russian hackers or was it linked to a specific Russian state sponsored group? If you have any links handy the would be great, otherwise I'll stop being lazy and do some googling.
I don't know about about Danish audiobooks, but MAM is the best source I've found so far. It's a private torrent tracker but they have an official interview process you can go through for access.
I disagree with your assessment that the climate crisis calls for a technical or scientific solution. We already have the technology and scientific information needed to fix the problem. The reason we haven't yet is actually for political and economic reasons. I can't envision a scenario where AI is able to fix the broken economic system that refuses to stop plundering our planet. I can't see AI fixing our politicians or PACs that manufacture lies and propaganda, keeping people oblivious to what's happening.
How do you figure that AI is the answer to environmental collapse? Don't get me wrong, copyright law is stupid, but I guess I just don't buy into all of the AI hype to the extent that others are.
Second bullet point, it's much easier to audit when you have the source code. Just wanted to point out it's not important to audit closed source software. It's just more time consuming and fewer people have the skills to do so.
the joys of a 5tb hard drive plugged directly into my TV
You're missing out on the joys of a Plex or Jellyfin server with a quality streaming device plugged into the TV. No way would I waste time manually transferring files around like that. With Sonarr and Radarr I don't even waste time manually downloading stuff.
I use a Nvidia Shield Pro to stream to, it works great for my 4k BluRay Remuxes. I personally hate using the built-in TV features because the quality and codec support can be a total crapshoot.
No more or less relevant than heartbleed. Yes vulns exist in open source software, sometimes for a while. Being open source can lead to those vulns getting discovered and fixed quicker than with closed source.
I'm just about finished with Leviathan Wakes audiobook, the first book of The Expanse series. I'm quite enjoying it!
Also almost done reading The Southern Reach Trilogy (only a few chapters to go on the last book). The movie Annihilation is based on the first book of the trilogy. Very weird, which is to be expected if you've seen the movie, but also really enjoying it.
And I've heard nothing but good things about Project Hail Mary, probably going to be my next one.
