  • The death of his daughter, Peter told me, was God’s will. God created measles. God allowed the disease to take his daughter’s life. “Everybody has to die,” he said.

  • Katie Porter is one of the very few good guys. She'd be a terrific governor for California, so I expect the Democratic Party will do all they can to oppose her.

  • One administrative judge at Equal Employment Opportunity Commission speaks out for equal employment opportunity, as the Commission turns the other way.

  • Reuters' headline sure softpedals the facts. I can almost hear an editor saying, We want something upbeat, dang it — make it cheerier!

"The courts are trying to do the best with what they've been given, which is a crappy statute that doesn't make any sense," said Ryan Dischinger, a public defender. "This statute was passed because, quite frankly, our legislature doesn't like to look at homeless people."

To whatever extent prosecutors & judges are trying to be decent about it, thanks and all, but the trying to be decent can end with any election. This law is just a loaded gun pointed at poor people.

  • He attended Trump's speech, then left and died on his way home. Symbolism much?

  • I will be sleepless for months, in anticipation of this momentous decision.

  • These are the Democrats who voted to censure Rep Al Green for disrupting Trump's speech to Congress:

    Ami Bera, D-Calif
    Ed Case, D-Hawaii
    Jim Costa, D-Calif
    Laura Gillen, D-NY
    Jim Himes, D-Conn
    Chrissy Houlahan, D-Pa
    Marcy Kaptur, D-Ohio
    Jared Moskowitz, D-Fla
    Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, D-Wash
    Tom Suozzi, D-NY
and Shomari Figures, D-Alabama, who voted 'present'

  • Exacatactly.

I can only speak for myself, but there's nothing the Democratic Party could do to make amends for doing nothing since the election.

If voting is allowed again — which seems an increasingly large 'if' — I'll vote for a candidate who speaks to me, but never again for a Democrat just because they're less awful than the Republican.

  • I'm sure it was meant as sarcasm, but it's obviously true.

  • In addition to being cruel and stupid, much or most of what Musk and Trump are doing is illegal and/or unConstitutional. Yet no Republicans and only about three Democrats in Congress are willing to say so. This happy bipartisanship will doubtless continue after Trump drops the pretense, dissolves Congress, and cancels future elections.

If nothing stops him now, what would stop him then?

  • I've never noticed that pattern.

  • What, you think he's going to ease up?

  • This is truth.

This is why I could never again live in the South, or South adjacent.

  • What could be more obvious? Of course cutting aid will lead to death. I'm certain it already has.

  • Are there religious-themed lizard-people enthusiasts? Silly question. Of course there are religious-themed lizard-people enthusiasts, though I am blissfully unaware of them (a fine state to be).

But I was thinking of my favorite wingnut conspiracy theorist and godfather of QAnon, David Icke, who thinks (or thought? certainly I hope he's dead by now) lizard-people rule the earth. For Icke, it's political, though, more than religious.

There are no limits to human stupidity. (But that's what the reptiles want me to say, and I must follow their orders.)
