  • And yet I'm still inundated by advertising for each movie, making me keenly aware of the thing I don't want constantly rammed down my throat. I've come to expect it at fast food restaurants, but I can't even shop for groceries without Marvel trying to push something at me. I'm not actively watching Marvel movies, but they are still part of my life whether I want them there or not.

  • Blasphemy! 😁

I do love that Sean Connery just never did accents. Irish cop in Chicago? Spanish via Egypt in Scotland? Soviet sub captain? All suspiciously scotch sounding apparently, but he was a big enough star that no one seems to have really minded, and the performances were always top-notch.

  • That last part is driving me crazy with frustration. If I identify a health hazard in my life, I take reasonable precautions against it, but when the whole system is inundated with that same issue, its hard to feel like you're aligned with "society". Like you said, it's literally in everything we eat, drink and do. I'll continue to support the plastics industry as little as possible, but it still has a stranglehold on industry. I've heard some promising reports from India about new developments in more sustainable packaging, but nothing's hit the mainstream yet.

  • I kiNda feel like this also ties back to the conversation we should all be prioritizing which is supporting athletes who are expected to deal with CTE during their careers. Those athletes are literally not in their right minds, and while I condemn the words literally coming out of this man's mouth, there should be more accountability within the major sports league he represents to support him while he incur injuries that reduce his ability to function IRL.
