  • I would hope the paid vacation would be more common in America, not something negative. The reality of the world sucks sometimes. Thankfully I live in Europe, and paid vacations are the norm.

  • Yeah, I made this instance. I intended retrolemmy to be a place welcoming for all things Retro, so go right ahead! I'd subscribe in a heartbeat!

If you need help, let me know.

  • I use a weller WSD 81 soldering station. But I got it for free, since I work in the pcb soldering business, and my boss gave me that one when I asked to borrow a soldering station since it's an old model we don't use in production anymore. He said I could keep it, which is great. The tips are still being sold.

  • I'm sure the general game communities won't mind you talking about new games. Or older games for that matter.

  • Thank you for choosing retrolemmy for this! May your community grow big and strong!

  • It takes a little more fiddling than torrents but is anything but wonky.

  • Get yourself a nice newsgroup, and an nzb indexer(search site for newsgroups) . Install nzbget, sonarr and radarr and Google for the parts you get stuck on.

I recommend a 2nd newsgroup subscription at a different place, because (in layman's terms) to appease the dmca strikes they delete a single file of the download, and chances are a different server deleted a different file, so your downloads are complete enough to parse the rest together.

  • In my country it is not expected to tip. Not in restaurants and not in delivery. Just pay your fucking employees. It's not that hard.

  • It's not a cult. We're a tight knit community. Don't leave though, you won't like it if you leave. The world isn't great outside. You should stay. If you leave you won't be accepted anymore. We are your friends. You don't want to lose the only people who care for you, right?

  • If those 3 billion minutes were watched non-stop 24/7 for the paying subscribers it would make at least $486,111.11 for Netflix assuming the subscribers paid for the cheapest subscription at ~$7. That's still a lot of money, but they also pay for their own upkeep, servers and much more.

I know most people don't have the cheapest subscription, and also that they don't watch 24/7. But it puts into perspective that Netflix doesn't earn that much on one series.

To add: they also make their own shows and productions and they pay to put shows up on their service that are not their own productions. I don't know what a show like suits will cost to be put on Netflix, since they don't produce the show, but I'd imagine that's not cheap. And I guess the writers get a percentage of the money earned on the selling of those rights (depending on the contract they have with the original studio)

And the paying of the writers is in the hands of the studio selling the rights, not Netflix.

  • !dosgaming@retrolemmy.com is the only real community right now. Subscribing might help for visibility if you can't see it.

You could always create an account if you like, it's open registration. I try to run my populate bot regularly so /all is populated with most popular communities.

  • I made it. I like retro games. That's it.

  • The critical mass of Reddit was many years after the Digg debacle.

  • I'm a guy who likes MsDOS

  • No cookies gives a Rick roll instead of showing the site for bruh.news. No thanks.

  • I'm donating to myself and nothing is happening! /s
