  • I was sooooo salty when SC III went PS2 exclusive. I mean not really but I was pretty bummed back then. Until I got a PS2 to go with my GameCube and Xbox, at least.

Soul Calibur was one of the few fighting games I really enjoyed because of the different weapons and stats they could have. It really set it apart from the other fighting games back then like DBZ, Bloody Roar, Mortal Kombat, etc.

The intro cinematics were pretty epic for their time too!

  • Maybe fear was too big of a word, but people generally try to avoid being rejected by their peers. It might not mean anything online in the grand scheme of things, but social media has tapped into our psyche to keep us coming back for more positive interactions.

  • The Monaco GP should be in karts or something, as the current track and regulations combination doesn't allow for a good race. You can't deny the history of the track but it's been boring for a while. Race usually ends in how they qualified.

  • They are just covering what a rando on Xitter is saying. Sadly this is the news cycle nowadays:

Unverified / unknown person posts a claim on X > "news" websites write a 6 paragraph article about this single post

And instead of being critical, people just gobble up anything as if it was true.

  • I actually don't like the upvote / downvote system. It can manipulate users into posting comments that are generally thought to be more accepted for fear of getting downvoted otherwise.

I'm fine with it working under the hood and ranking comments based on the numbers, but the fact that everyone can see it all makes it more like an echo chamber.

Personally I only upvote comments that I really, really enjoy or replies that are on topic and constructive. Downvotes are for comments that are confidently incorrect, rude or nonsensical.

Anything in between I just don't vote on it. At least theres no "karma" that's linked with your profile on here. That would make it a game of chasing numbers like other sites.

  • Has what you said been proven and documented anywhere? All I can find is threads of people claiming things, but no actual (investigative) journalism that covers these parts.

Toggling on data collection without informing the user would mean billions of dollars worth of fines in Europe, so I doubt that happens regularly. Still, I don't mind being proven wrong if you got the proof to back it up

  • I agree with the general sentiment but it literally says it will update outside of active hours. So as non-disruptive as possible.

And the privacy toggles are set when you install the OS. You can untick all of them the last time I checked.

Sorry for being such a pedant

  • Thank you for your detailed response, and I'm sorry you had to (and will have to) go through this. Feel free to send me a link to your writing if it's publically available. Philosophically it's a really interesting subject, but realistically it's quite revealing of how we are failing as a society.

Your comparison to Neanderthals would surmise we drove them to extinction while morally or ethically speaking they were the better species. Are we the baddies?

  • With the Sync app you can still see the comment if you hit "reply", as the reply view has a top box for reading the parent comment and making text selection and for some reason it retains the comment contents. Just an FYI
