  • Let's be clear: This type of person eats a very specific kind of potato salad that consists only of potatoes, mayo, and the tears of every customer service manager that dares cross her path.

Potato salad is like chili and meatloaf. It's not a recipe so much as it is a formula with many variables. You can make it boring and bland, or you can make it exciting and delicious. There are no rules except for what's in the name.

I love potato salad because I make it how I like it, which includes a lot of spices and vegetables and other stuff. I don't think I've ever made it the same way twice.

  • In this past election, it's kind of a non-issue. Both parties have always had it in their rules that if the nominee drops out after the primaries, the party can select a new nominee without holding another primary. And to be honest, it's an understandable rule, at least within the scope of an overall shitty system. People generally aren't going to show out for primaries, then watch a nominee drop out, then show out for yet another round of primaries, and then show out for a general election. It's hard enough just to get people to vote once.

Prior to 2024 though, the DNC and DCCC putting their fingers on the scale to fuck Sanders and elevate Clinton is unforgivable.

  • I don't doubt it. My comment was more aimed at the general idea that religious people shouldn't be lumped together, more than at you specifically. Interestingly, as I scrolled past this post, I came upon this one. Here's the linked article.

'God has an order': Head of Trump's faith office says women must 'submit' to men

Televangelist Paula White, leader of the White House Faith Office, argued that women must "submit" to men.
During a Wednesday interview on Real America's Voice, host Steve Gruber spoke to White about the state of faith in America during President Donald Trump's second term in office.
"God is moving mightily, and what's so exciting to me?" White explained. "It's especially among young people and men. Men are the fastest returning to church."
Gruber agreed that "real men" were needed to take leadership roles.
"Absolutely," White continued. "They are becoming the bedrock, which is how God designed... Because God has an order."

It's really difficult not to lump all Christians together when someone like Paula White has so much influence on one of the most powerful governments on earth, and there is no push-back from the Christian community as a whole. She preaches blatant bigotry from the seat of government, and Christian leaders and congregations are silent. It's hard to disentangle the good from the bad when everyone is quiet.

Every movement against hate has relied upon allies. Women's suffrage needed men, Civil Rights needed white folks, LGBTQ+ rights needs straight folks, and so on. We need Christians like yourself to be loud as fuck about this. I don't want to lump you in with them. I want you to be the standard by which they are judged, not the other way around.

  • I wouldn't lump all the people of a religion into the same boat if that religion didn't have a death grip on the levers of power due to its congregants willingness to spill blood for those ends over the past two millennia.

As an institution, Christianity has relied on the passive support as well as the active participation of the majority of its congregants to dominate Western civilization through violence. Their current position of power is built on countless mass graves, slavery, genocide, and every form of bigotry imaginable being upheld and promoted by its followers for centuries. It's only in the last few decades that there has been any kind of push for change, and it's been less than incremental. We can't even elect a woman as president of the US, much less a queer person or even an open atheist. This is because the majority of religious people will not accept it.

You may be a good person, but you are the anomaly in the grand scheme of your religion. You are the outlier. A violent biker gang doesn't cease to be a violent biker gang just because a few of its members hand out stuffed animals to kids once a year. That's called PR, and I'm not falling for it.

Reform your institution top-down. Kick out the power hungry. Kick out the depraved leaders who fuck little kids and cover it up. Kick out the grotesquely wealthy who prey on the poor to buy a new jet. Make them the outliers. Until you do that, your association with them is a conscious choice, and a choice of conscience.

  • White meat chicken nuggets. Some of us prefer dark meat, which doesn't translate well to boneless nugget form. Also, I generally prefer crispy skin over breading. But I'll fuck up some white meat nuggs from time to time, as long as they aren't tossed in sauce.

  • I prefer bone-in because I prefer dark meat. I also like the crispy skin more than breading. When I do get a craving for white meat chicken nuggets, I'll make them myself and won't toss them in sauce. It makes the breading soggy.

  • Nick Adams once said on Twitter that Alpha males never have to announce that they are Alpha males, with (Alpha male) right there in his name. For the longest time, I refused to believe he wasn't a parody account. Then I looked into him, and the dude is 100% serious. Some people are just impossibly stupid.

This is the tweet I was thinking of, but while looking for it, I was reminded that he mentions his Alpha status all the fucking time.

  • yea the birth rate is going to plummet.

I'm not so sure. Impoverished countries have the highest birth rates. I can imagine the logic of the wealthy 0.001% being "if we make the rest of the country as broke as Somalia, the birth rate will also be as high as Somalia."

  • he also grew out his beard because people were making fun of his chinless weak jaw as being feminine.

He doesn't even have a chinless weak jaw. It's perfectly normal. But people mocking him for his chin looking feminine (which it doesn't) is exactly what's going on with the MAGA beard trend.

Every one of these right-wing goons that grows a beard does it to emulate some weird idealized version of masculinity from the "good ol' days" when men were men and women had no rights and gays didn't exist. Between 2016 and 2020, an inordinate number of MAGA dorks all started growing beards, as if on cue. Matt Walsh, the Trump sons, Ben Shapiro, Steven Crowder, Ted Cruz, and a whole bunch of other dipshit podcast bro's, influencers, and politicians all went for the same exact bearded look at around the same time.

The reason they grow the beard isn't to cover up an actual weak chin or feminine jawline, so much as it is to shield against those kinds of accusations, no matter how unfounded (Shapiro is a great example of this). They are compelled to project an image of stoic masculinity because deep down, they are all incredibly fragile and insecure and terrified of anyone perceiving them as anything less than the very definition of manliness, and bullying them for it the way they bully others for it.

When the biggest part of your brand is attacking people for not conforming to gender norms from a century ago, you can't walk around flaunting your luscious DSL's. Better cover that shit up!
