  • I've probably played this game for over a hundred hours. Great soundtrack too, by Alexander Brandon. I also loved the minigame hidden behind the DESTRUCT cheat code.

    And it's open source too!

  • I can't believe someone else just mentioned Hover! I haven't played it in decades lol but I did spend a lot of time on it as a kid

  • Sonic Robo Blast 2 is one of the best Sonic games ever!

  • Soldat was awesome, I loved the Rambo mode lol. That game had such good movement.

  • definitely Deus Ex

but also The 7th Guest lol

  • Not the first person, but certainly the first and only chick

  • Block lemmy.ml if you don't like it

(Actually, is lemmy.world on too old of a version to have instance blocking? They're so far behind on updates)

  • on fediverse observer, you need to switch to daily stats not monthly stats, right now it says 53,225 MAU for March 13th as the latest datapoint

    https://lemmy.fediverse.observer/dailystats

fedidb is probably doing something similar, just showing the average for the whole month, instead of the current day

  • This is cool too, but I would like to offer an idea I've seen other communities do which is a specific day of the week for posting pictures. Like Pictures Tuesday or something.

  • I'm definitely happy I didn't open Lemmy until I got home from work today

This is one reason why I never use expanded card views and only used the condensed list views where I have to click a thumbnail to expand lol

  • Yeah we don't need more posts, we need more comments, and maybe more voters too

  • Well yeah some of the people, but I think the majority (or at least a large portion of them) will want a similar alternative to switch to, along with an entirely new generation of people

  • IDK, people will probably eventually leave Reddit, as they left Digg and Myspace and many others. Where would they go aside from the Fediverse? Almost all new alternatives being built are using the Fediverse, and it's the only way to get more than 1000 users currently.

It might not be Lemmy, it might even be a platform that doesn't exist yet, but they'll be here in the Fediverse with us.

Most platforms die or never catch on at all, but the Fediverse allows the platforms to rotate in and out without losing the users or content.

  • well I was speaking in theory, just the idea, of course this stuff can be abused

but imagine if they actually only used it for illegal content, like the really bad stuff

  • interesting idea actually, strengthening the crowd sourced filtering

but downvotes don't delete posts, so you still need a real moderator

  • maybe the idea is that round keys will have less typos than rectangular keys that are all touching each other?

  • If a community is too specific then it won't gain traction. I think definitely keep it as general as you can, like just a graphic design community (if there isn't already one)

  • Also hashtags don't help federation at all, groups/communities will "boost" the post so it federates to all the followers
