It could be just me, but I always feel like "fuck, that must have been a scew/bolt/nail/T-72 that will fuck up my vacuum". I'm sure there's some kind of filter that was invented somewhere around 1947 to prevent exactly that, but the instant feeling is still the same.

My folks also do something similar. I'd bet most lemmy/[colour name]dit users of miscellanious languages also have their own form of me+me (I+I). Spanish speakers, is it 'yoyo' or just 'meme'?

I mean, there's literally an "actual" case in the Bible. I'm not even religious, so sorry if I can't provide much detail, but in the story of Sodoma and Gomorrah there's this bloke who asks God to save one soul. After God says okay, he's like, if you could save one, couldn't you save another? Then he proceeds to get God to save everyone in the same vein.

In my opinion it really depends on the person saying that. There are just way too many factors like Dunning-Krueger, the interpretation of the word 'good' (Just sufficient? Above average?), or just their own ego/modesty.

I would say I'm decent with numbers. I don't like to boast, and I'm sure I'm terribly far from being a prodigy (I am quite far), but I have the feeling I can multiply double digit numbers in my head faster than the average. That doesn't even tell you much anyway.

As you said, it had the buying power of $1.25. Therefore, at the same size and at the price of $1.25, it would be perfectly alright. Don't blame inflation, blame greedy companies increasing prices above inflation AND also shrinking portions.

I'm otherwise not super deep into economics so thanks for the correction. TIL.

Also, if you're rooting for deflation: more often than not, when deflation happens, things are not going great in terms of economics.
