  • Thanks. The only reason I wrote it because I believe people CAN stop being racist. I grew in a small town (and family) where almost nobody was nazi level racist, but the kind that still grabs their bag when a gypsy/roma person gets on the bus. No N words, no swastikas but the kind of "passive" racism where you still have unrealistic prejudices and stereotypes.

It took me a few years, meeting more people, getting some education (and a few amazing girlfriends) to realise that I've been fed some unfiltered, biased information on ethnical minorities, people of colour and the LGBT community. But the same way as I could get more information and stop being racist, I think the majority of those people (if not everybody) can, as well.

  • I don't use it actively (I'm not even logged in) but a good bunch of my friends keep sending me links. It would sound pretty mean if I just refused to open so many links to so many people on so many platforms (I consider TikTok even worse). I was talking about the phenomenon in general and brought up Instagram as an example.

  • Like it was impossible for websites to display properly. Especially when you want to watch the horizontal video that was uploaded to a vertical based site on a horizontal monitor (I'm looking at you, Instagram). Then you're left with ~9% of your monitor area and you can't even read the fucking text on the video.

I understand that you need to adapt when most people watch videos on phones now, but forcing people to install an app just to get all your user data is a pretty scummy move. Also, I may want to use my PC instead for a multitude of reasons.

  • I'm sure. I don't think I should trust any other platform any more (people being partially informed, delusional, idiots, or just trying to paint reality in their preferred colour are everywhere, from town hall meetings to 4chan), but I was just genuinely curious. The question arose in me today when I looked at the egg carton that said it was from free range hens and made me think of all the petty lies and misguiding info that companies have been pulling to greenwash their product. I just wonder if veganism managed to make a dent, at least. I'm hoping so.

  • God forbid I recommended you to buy an HP ever, but it feels like they've been awful only in the ink jet section. At least my HP laser printer (283 something) doesn't require me to have a(n) HP Smart account (I don't even know how/where to set up one), I've had it for ~3-4 years now, and it's been reliable and trusty ever since. I can imagine they started pulling the same shady shit with the new laser printers, but this one seems to be working as of now. Fingers crossed.

EDIT: Still buy a Brother, I have only heard amazing things about them; just saying it's not happening everywhere - yet.

  • It wasn't necessarily out of laziness but it screams laziness to me. Nobody would have noticed if OP just simply corrected CNIDA and nothing else in Gimp, hey, even in MSPaint.

  • That's cool! Does it mean you don't need to stand up when you need to use the toilet during a WoW raid?

EDIT: Ummm... I was just joking about literally sucking ass. And referring to the South Park episode with World of Warcraft. Sorry if it didn't come through as funny.

  • It's called the Tetris effect and it gave me really stupid ideas when Need For Speed: Underground came out and had this mechanic where you could fill up your boost by doing near misses with oncoming traffic. I just had my driving license not long before that.

  • While I have never been a coffee person, I always rolled my eyes when someone ordered a decaf soya latte or something similar. "Come on, if you can't drink coffee then just don't".

...Then my friends got me to ditch dairy for oat (both for environmental reasons and the creaminess), then I had to accept the fact that I like it more sweet, then I tried salted caramel syrup, then I found out that two shots is like a hand grenade followed by two hours of misery, and I started drinking one shot caramel oat mochas. And then at my place I saw throngs of young moms who couldn't have caffeine.

Now you can't disgust me with your coffee order. If you like it with one and three quarters shot, macadamia milk, semi decaf, with mustard and marshmallow syrup then good for you. Also, let me try it.

EDIT: Coffee snobs: take it lightly. We are all different, and it's good. Some like the taste of coffee, some don't and they drink it out of sheer necessity, and if they must stay alert then at least they can make it taste better (for them). I'm sure there are some bean snobs out there who frown to the thought of putting spices on beans.
