  • I would consider squatting a form of sitting not standing but if that's what people mean then it at least makes more sense to me.

  • This question pops up every now and then on social media and it always blows my mind that there are people who wipe standing up. I just don't understand the logistics of it and it seems like it would make things more difficult.

  • Wouldn't blowing up also render the console inoperative? I would think safely shutting down would be preferable to exploding if the end result is still a dead console.

  • Nog and Jake's business venture was one of my favorite DS9 episodes. I'm still upset that Jake didn't become a business man when he got older. I always thought it would have completed their story arc: the Ferengi joins Star Fleet and the Star Fleet officer's son goes into business earning profit.

  • Everyone saying to go to Lemmy after the Reddit thing. I always browsed Reddit through their webpage so the third party app thing didn't really bother me but I thought the whole Fediverse concept sounded interesting and decided to see what it's like.

  • It was awhile ago but I read that a lot of streaming services don't make a profit and I can understand the logic. With ads, there is a direct link between a show and it's profits. The more people watch a show, the more people see the ads, the more a company can charge for ads on that show. Without ads it becomes difficult. It doesn't matter if 100 people watch or a million, the profits are the same.

I feel it's inevitable that streaming services are going to go back to ads. It's the better business model.

  • Chaotic neutral isn't that bad when you're doing programming since the extra vertical space is really convenient.

I've been lawful neutral ever since the pandemic forced work from home.

  • I'm really happy to hear about Dishonored 3. It's one of my favorite series and I replay it regularly.

  • I have similar feelings regarding all the RGB lighting on computer hardware. I have to drape a towel over my mouse just so I can sleep in peace.

  • I didn't mean select random people to be supreme Court justices. I meant select from existing judges to temporarily serve in the supreme Court.

It's the only way I can think of to remove as much politics as possible from the SC.

  • I e always found the economics of Star Trek to be confusing. In some episodes, they act like they don't even understand what money is but then in others you see them buying things. The Picard family owning a vineyard and Sisko's dad owning a restaurant proves that private ownership of land and property are still things that are present in the Federation. How did He get the restaurant? Was it given to him? Did he buy it? If so, what did he buy it with?

In DS9, we see the crew buying things from Quark but where did they get their money? Does Star Fleet pay salaries? Are officers deployed to places that use money provided with some kind of stipend?

I might need to do some googling to see if I can find some discussion on Federation economics.

  • Maybe the supreme Court should be like jury duty. Randomly select from a pool of judges from around the country to fill the position for a certain period of time.

  • I'll have to try that and see if it works.

  • I bought a Steamdeck a few weeks ago and one of the reasons was to see how well games play on a linux system. So far everything is working fine so I think I might actually switch to full Linux for my next computer.

  • Of course it goes in sale after I just bought one.

  • Win 11 is going to push me to Linux for my main PC. My current PC doesn't meet the hardware requirements for Win 11 so I couldn't run it even if I wanted to.

The only question is if I'll need a separate windows machine for gaming.

  • Do you have a recipe for this? It looks good.

  • I'm really bad with this in games. I even hoarded iron back when I still played Minecraft simply because it was a resource I couldn't infinitely produce.

Cobblestone generator = use only cobblestone tools

  • The last time I played I turned the enemies completely off but between trains and the beginning of nuclear power, I got so confused I just quit.

I also turned the mountains off as well. I had enough problems trying to keep the conveyor belts straight without having to deal with building around elevation.
