  • some may argue that due to genetics, current biological transition technology cannot truly change someone’s sex, I’m not smart enough to have an opinion on this

those people will be transphobes. Maybe if you're not "smart enough" (in your words) to understand something, you shouldn't be giving your opinion on it, especially so authoritatively, and instead go educate yourself on it (you can start here)?

is people don’t wake up and choose to be a different gender (though they may feel and therefore be one), this is kind of more based on my experience than anything else, so maybe some people do

it's nothing to do with "waking up and choosing to be a different gender", just like transitioning isn't based on "merely emotions", both are extremely dismissive.

It seems like you mean well, but I highly recommend listening to people actually living these experiences (in the numerous trans communities on the fediverese would be a good place to start), instead of getting your information from what sounds like terrible and biased sources..

  • I was going to buy one so I called my local fire station for advice and the advice they gave me was - make sure your fire alarms and smoke detectors are working, and if you have a fire, call 999 and evacuate.

I questioned if it wasn't better to have an extinguisher to try and get it under control, and he explained that most people have generally never used an extinguisher before (or would even know which to use for what fire), and even if they have, not in a real life panic inducing situation, and so are more likely to be wasting valuable time and putting themselves at risk, than actually put out the fire.

I'm sure this won't stop some people, but it was enough for me (he was right, I was calling for advice because I didn't have a clue, and for every person like me who asks, how many don't, and end up in situations like those I presume lead to him giving me that advice?).

  • Gender can change sex cannot

I'm sorry, what do you think medical transitioning is? People literally changing their sex.

if someone’s gender changes or doesn’t match their sex it is not because of a decision they made, it is merely an emotion.

    wut?

be nice to trans people, they’re just people trying to not be uncomfortable living in their own skin.

    that's enough

  • I really don't think relying on something having come from PBS to prove it isn't bullshit, or worse, "a universal truth", is the best plan..

To reiterate my previous point - human beings don't need to be taught to love or be kind or share or cooperate, those things are hardwired in us, have been for tens if not hundreds of thousands of years, so there is no need for you to remember who taught you these things, because no one did.
What we are taught, in large by the media as well as education systems (beyond maybe pre-school where kids are still allowed to just be kids rather than worker drones in training), and our parents, who were indoctrinated in the same ways we are, is that the opposite is true and that we are designed to compete, and "the strongest survive" and all that other capitalistic, white supremacist, patriarchal, cisheteronormative, ableist bullshit designed to divide us and keep us from turning on those imposing these artificial systems.

So again - asking where you learned to love will never get you an answer, because you were born that way. If you want to know why, as an adult, it doesn't seem true or acceptable anymore, but more importantly - to combat the problem, you have to be asking who is engineering this natural instinct out of society and making you believe it isn't ok to love everyone, and why.

  • Yeah, you have to be a really spectacular piece of shit to do that (any of the examples really, but the beggar one in particular, even just considering it is super fucked up)..

  • Please point to where anyone wished cancer on anyone?

Also, the fact that people don't feel sorry for the filthy rich old man getting what is almost certainly an age related disease (because it's not like he was exposed to the levels of shit food and air and stress that gives the rest of us cancer), is wild to you, but the existence of a "god appointed" ruler that leeches off of his people while they struggle to survive isn't, says a lot more about you than me not giving much of a shit does about me..

E: you know what? Even if I had, wishing death on a person whose entire existence depends on the oppression (and death) of others on a mass, almost unimaginable scale, is still less morally repugnant than defending them. ¯(ツ)
Eat the fucking rich - they've brought it on themselves.

  • If sitting on a gold throne, in a gold room, riding around in your gold carriage, covered in jewels, none of which were (or ever could be) "earned", but rather pillaged, without even knowing what a days work feels like, while the people you're parading your "god given right" to lord over, and whose wealth you hoard privately overseas, are having to choose between heating and eating as they work 3 zero hour jobs just to survive - isn't considered evil in your mind, it is your moral compass that is the problem, not me feeling momentary joy when a cancer gets cancer.

  • Are you sure they're getting dragged up by something, rather than ending up there on their own and then getting stuck/trapped/bitten and dying?

  • I was happy for a second and then remembered that karma is a bad take and that he will be getting the absolute best available healthcare and even if he does die, he will be doing so having gotten to old age, in extreme luxury and in more comfort than any of us will ever experience.

I worry that if he does die soon it will only embolden royalist sentiment in this country as the grieving masses will cling on to the "young king" which the media will spin as "progressive" or whatever, and we'll just keep getting further and further away from abolishing this disgusting establishment.

We seriously need a King Ralph type thing to happen, only the people take over, instead of a stereotypical American. Turn Buckingham palace in to a community centre with a kitchen and a shelter and childcare and a free mental health clinic, and put those gardens to actual use..

  • Growing up kids generally know it's OK to love everyone, what you should be asking is who teaches us it isn't, and why..

  • yet we still use the same capitalist system to distribute that information.

..they posted, on the fediverse.. 🙄

Either way, your framing of the existence of media and information exchange free from capitalism, as something that would somehow invalidate or contradict the existence of capitalism, oozes yet you participate in society vibes..

  • Yeah, I just had this 🤢 in mind the whole time, but that image really does do a much better job, and I'm definitely stealing it for future use.

  • Yeah, thanks. And good point, I'm sure @ernest is aware of what's going on, but will post over on the kbin meta too just in case..

  • Just fyi I've been browsing all/new on kbin and in the past hour or so came across and reported a few more CP posts, I'm almost certain at least one or two were in this magazine, so whatever block you had I don't know that it fully federated, or maybe something else is going on, but either way, the issue is still ongoing..

  • but here in reality that doesn’t actually work as long as humans remain what they are
Ceaseless cooperation in numbers beyond those of our immediate tribe- or family-sphere is not a trait that is found in humans.

"reality" is what capitalism has indoctrinated you to think it is, meanwhile in actual reality, humans are and always have been hardwired to cooperate

and there is no outside disruption from anywhere else that doesn’t subscribe to the ideal

lol, so you acknowledge that attempts at communism couldn't have succeeded because capitalism wouldn't allow it (because capitalists consider communism, or any cooperation that isn't for profit, an existential threat, which is precisely why they invest so much in to making people like you think it's not only a bad idea, but an "impossible" one).

    https://medium.com/international-workers-press/misconceptions-about-communism-2e366f1ef51f

You can try as hard as you like to evade actual reality, and the fact that capitalism is not only guaranteed to, but is already literally destroying humanity and the planet, or you can keep licking its boot that is not only stomping on your neck, but on all our necks, because you're too scared or even unable (but definitely privileged enough to still find comfort in it - we aren't all that lucky) to think outside of the box it created for you, but falling for the propaganda will never make you right, only demonstrably easily manipulated, and wilfully ignorant and resistant to change (when you refuse to even try to understand, let alone seriously contemplate the alternatives, you don't get to dismiss them since you clearly don't know what the fuck you're talking about).. That's a you problem, not a communism (or even "reality") problem.. ¯(ツ)

  • I'm just waiting for my dinner to cook and figured I should also mention some of the ingredients I use (on top of whatever seasoning the dish requires) that are guaranteed to boost almost any dish - maggie liquid seasoning (basically MSG) especially when combined with butter (I use plant based), dried fried onions, and nutritional yeast flakes.
I also roast a load of garlic cloves all at once (little bit of olive oil, wrap in foil, low heat for about half an hour - there are more precise recipes online) then freeze, then you can have a mushy clove (or 5) to use whenever you need it (every meal lol).

  • he problem with that and most other proposals for whatever other moneyless utopian society is that they all implicitly require some manner of all-powerful central authority to ensure that the rewards get distributed, the labor gets allocated, and the rules stay followed.

    that really isn't the case..
Communism by definition is not only moneyless but also stateless and classless (if there is an "all powerful" anything - it isn't communism).
anarchism by definition abolishes all hierarchy, so again, no one person or even group gets to a point of having any significant power over anyone else.

In both cases (which are the two most notable far left ideologies I would say, along with socialism which is inherent to both) not having an all powerful central authority is literally the point.
