  • Seriously, half of Lemmy needs to learn what a fucking meme is.

Honestly its been 12 months and I'm thinking of installing the Reddit app because sometimes I just want to look at dumb funny shit because the world is depressing. I open lemmy and the memes community is full of political cartoons about Gaza and all the shit I'm trying to take a break from for 10 minutes.

  • Now someone much smarter than I can do the math, but over a long enough distance with a shallow enough incline on a ramp I dont see why it couldnt be done.

The math might mean the scale of the ramp makes the idea completely unrealistic to build. But I dont see why it wouldnt work.

  • Im no expert but after 15 years in mail and parcel logistics I know shit. Ive been told Im "too close to the issue" to be objective. I even posted links to business services for a major international carrier to back up what I said and apparently any evidence I provide is "Biased"

So the only people you can turn to for factual answers are people with no fucking idea apparently.

  • I replied this to someone else but...

I was having issues with positional hypertension, I posted about it in a bodybuilding forum. Someone said "I bet your caffeine intake is too high. I had the same issue after my morning coffees and whenever I had preworkout. Dial back the caf and see what happens" That advice was safe, free and easy to test. It worked too. The thread has a bunch of people saying "Go see a doctor" and a bunch of people recommending supplements to help. I looked at all the advice rationally and thought about it. Id never had issues with caffeine before, but Id also never been working out as hard as I was and in a caloric deficit at the same time.

  • What people DO with advice they asked for is on them.

I think the type of people who will.apply internet quackery as fact are probably the same people who put "doctors" in inverted commas and shop for the opinion they want anyway.

  • I'm onboard with this statement purely because nobody is posting asking for advice while sitting around just fucking oblivious to the idea that doctors exist. Like we arent aware that the best advice will come from a trained medical professional who has my complete medical history and access to all manner of tests to confirm their diagnosis.

Saying "Speak to your doctor" is useless, its just you involving yourself in the conversation for the sake of it. Its the advice equivalent of "Thoughts and Prayers". Do you also go on a automotive community and reply to every car repair advice question with "take it to a mechanic"?

For me, "Speak to "your doctor" means getting an appointment for 10 weeks from now OR taking the first available appointment (11am next tuesday, so... take a day off work) at the revolving door medical clinic staffed by doctors who legit have a "patients per hour" quota to keep and you never see the same one twice. Who skimreads 40 years of medical history, pays no heed to what I actually want and pushes me out the door.

  • IDK, Theres plenty of big trucks, its no bigger than an F250. Tesla have made about 4000 Cybertrucks so far, Ford sold over 750,000 F-series trucks in 2023... Most people probably dont NEED a big truck but Tesla arent much more than a drop in that bucket.

  • I mean, I kind of like the styling of it as a "Lol, why the fuck not" its stupid and fun, if you have the money why not. But I think some people take owning a Cybertruck as right wing virtue signaling, Musk certainly hasnt made himself any more popular since it was released, constant shenanigans at Tesla and the constant stories about issues with them.

Its gone from a weirdly designed car to a whole thing

  • You need to think on a Macro scale with stuff like this. The fact is that this voice got loud enough to get a response, and thats how the ball gets rolling.

Most politicians wouldnt consider the videogamers and tech crowd to be a great demographic to chase, but if theres one politician who needs an identity... one who thinks "I can be the "Pro-consumer rights" member. Videogames just being shut off, rights to books and movies you "bought" just being revoked...yeah thats a cause thats hard to argue against. Makes me look like a champion of the people. Especially young people."

It got a "Yes, we heard you." It doesnt mean you stop.
