  • You had me nodding till the oils. That personally sounds a bit cheaty, but then I quite enjoyed the thoughtful aspect of planning your potions and oils carefully before combat.

But otherwise yeah I played with QoL mods before, mostly to help the UI and map and inventory. Worth the minor effort for sure.

  • I guess I can only speak from my experience. Most of the instructors and blackbelts who taught me were working on advanced academic degrees as well and actually cared about their students learning all aspects of the art. No meatheaded dudebros whatsoever. They would never even consider promoting that type of buffoon.

Sorry to hear your experience wasn't the same.

  • Thanks! I remember using DarNified for Skyrim so that sounds promising.

    1. Red Dead Redemption 2. I love it but put it down for like a week then got distracted by other games. Haven't had the drive yet to pick the story back up.
    2. Witcher 3. I never played Blood & Wine. I loved the game as well as Heart of Stone but I scoured every inch and burned myself out. Told myself I'd save B&W for when I make some changes in my life, as motivation. Still haven't made a couple of the biggest yet though.
  • I highly recommend giving Subnautica another shot. It quickly became one of my all-time favorites. The devs have gone back and made improvements and even brought some buildables and minor features from Below Zero into the original game. It's not perfect and you could still potentially lose a seamoth to a bug but I was able to finish it on hardcore mode (one death erases your save) if that tells you anything about stability.

  • Anyone know what this mod is called? I have the same hoarding problem as the other poster so this sounds essential for me.

  • Sure, but most people probably don't know that detail. Hunters probably do, but for your average dumbass a simple "don't shoot any guns into the air" rule is probably for the best.

  • I guess that's fine if you live on a large isolated property. Where I am, the neighbor's house is like 3.5m away.

  • Sabine Wrenn? Healed by a medical bot. At least hers took a while.

  • No, ignore this. Never shoot guns into the air, it's both dangerous and stupid.

  • I'm sure that would have happened if it was necessary. But what's amazing about highly skilled martial arts practitioners is that they have incredible self control and extensive training on how to de-escalate a situation with the minimal force. They understand anatomy and reaction speed and pain and even the legal consequences of using their abilities for harm.

It still boggles my mind that it's not a requisite for western police.

  • Endeavour has basically all the pros of Arch without the challenges. Most times I just want to do some gaming with minimal fuss so for me it's perfect. I can still tinker when I want to.

I think they've standardized on KDE Plasma and Wayland (though I still recommend X11 for stability) as the default but last I knew they offered current builds for almost every DE, which again just saves hassle if you prefer another.

I used Manjaro previously but it seemed too disconnected from Arch / the AUR, so it felt like a crapshoot on whether certain package versions would work or whether the Arch wiki was relevant.

  • EndeavourOS, best one I've used yet.

  • If Scandinavian homicide serials were accurate there would be nobody left!

  • Yep, like when there's a remote mountain town of five people and two of them get murdered.

  • Yep it's Elden Ring for me too. I've been running my second character (pure sorcery) on and off for a while but the hype has me back in it. I'm a little tired of the gameplay and way more into the lore now. Hoping the new weapons and abilities give it a fresh feeling.

  • Oh man, enjoy. In some ways RDR2 is the best game ever. Some of the side encounters and story twists are top notch, and the game is gorgeous even on my ancient PC or Steam Deck. For some reason I stopped playing halfway through (I think I got distracted by Deep Rock Galactic over the holidays) but really need to pick it back up.

  • Ugh yeah that's tempting to reinstall once again. Last time I did the Call of Chernobyl mod which combines all three game maps and was pretty awesome. I hear Anomaly is really good too.

  • I'm curious how the latest version runs. I haven't tried it since the Unreal Engine 5 update. Kinda waiting to jump back in at the 1.0 release.

  • I'll hex you all from the Witchy Woods! Unless you let me hang out too, Wizengard sounds pretty cool.
