  • You are making the same mistake every player has made in regards to Trump.

You are under estimating him and you believe he is transactional in relationships. You give him X, he gives you Y. Trump is NOT transactional. Trump sees you giving him X as weakness and will try to take Y and Z from you in the future. He will never give you Y unless he is forced to.

Trump does not give a shit if you like him. Trump only cares that you will follow him and do what he says either willingly or by coercion.

Europe and Canadian leaders came to, or called Trump at Mar-a-lago in the weeks after the election and kissed his ass.

It accomplished nothing. Trump is still moving forward with tariffs and his agenda to break up NATO and make America a regional power with hegemony over North America.

If you want to figure out what Trump is actually up to ask yourself why does he want Greenland? We already have military bases there. Denmark will let us build more or exploit the resources on that island.

The only reason you would seek to annex Greenland is if you are working toward a future where Denmark would see you as an enemy and would not allow the US access to Greenland.

Think about what would have to happen to make that a reality…

I say this as an American, Europe needs to start arming itself ASAP. Because no one here has managed to stop this Orange Fucker. I don’t have any faith we can stop him from whatever shitty plan he has.

  • This only shows weakness to Trump. It tells him your country is weak fearful and seeks his protection.

Trump is going to do whatever it is he wants to do and this just confirms Finland won’t be a major obstacle to his plan and/or Finland will just go along with it.

    Finlands President is a fool.

  • I don’t think people have caught onto the fact that you should never give into Trump’s demands… full stop.

The assumption that what you give to him is transactional and will make him stop doesn’t apply.

Giving in just shows you perceive your position as weak and he will ask for more or destroy you later.

Look at all the Broadcast networks that settled lawsuits and paid him off, look at Columbia university giving into his demands around student protests.

The list goes on and on with the same result you give in and he will ask for more or still seek to destroy you later. Giving in just makes him stronger.

  • Police abuse and murder of minorities happens all the time in America and no one riots or even bats an eye.

People were bored from sitting around during Covid and the massive heat wave that summer didn’t help.

How many nation wide riots have happened since Covid 19?

  • Parties and what they represent evolve over time. America is going through a rapid evolution currently.

Since the end of the Cold War America has pursued or engaged in free trade and Neo Liberalism and the War on Terror.

The result is there are significant sections of the populace that feel left behind by our economy as wealth inequality builds. They see their jobs going over seas and an ineffectual government that has failed at protecting them economically and has failed in the War on Terror. Add to it a powerful propaganda machine in the form of our news and social media and it is a recipe for change… What that change will end up shaping into may not be the future you want.

This is the backlash. After the Democratic establishment has ignored unions and the working man. Leaving them open to the populist out reach of Donald Trump.

Never mind that Trump will never deliver any of what he promised. The fact is he now has the power and is using it to break up the system that has been in place since WW2. Which benefits a small number of oligarchs who want to cement their power over the US.

I suspect we will see a shift in the next mid-term election (if it takes place) and a realignment of the Democratic Party toward populism. We as a people have to figure out how to fight corporate propaganda and their hegemony over social media.

That is if Trump doesn’t kill our Democracy first.

  • Buffet has a long history of stockpiling cash when the market becomes far too speculative. He’s also flat out said millionaires and billionaires aren’t taxed fairly compared to the working class.

I think Trump is trying to appeal to blue collar workers who have seen their jobs disappear. Tariffs are his ham fisted way of trying to appeal to them.

Trump is a fool though. It isn’t the 60s anymore and manufacturing won’t work in the US without inputs from Canada and Mexico.

  • With a stable partner, I’d say you are correct.

However if your partner is willing to weaponize that interdependency then the calculation changes.

China weaponized trade and used wolf warrior diplomacy during Covid in an attempt to gain influence. Russia weaponized energy with Europe. Now Trump is having the US do the same for “reasons” with Canada.

You’d think we would learn there is more up side to cooperation than conflict but here we are again.

  • I’m sure they are kissing the ring because progressives are all too happy to abandon them.

Who cares if they follow the market as long as they are headed in the right direction. They are a business, they will act as the market dictates.

  • Bring the pain.

The harder the better. Trump won’t stop on his own. The people will need to get pissed and demand change.

    Bring the pain.

Target exports from red states. Squeeze those Trump voting mother fuckers until reality slaps them in the face and they squeal like the little facist pricks they are.

    Bring the pain.
