Yeah, I'm absolutely not saying deregulation is a good idea, just like goat-law. I can see how my comment read though, rewrote a bit to make the cynical undertone a bit more obvious.

I was only pointing out that the current, specific set of laws, is keeping this problem a reality. That it's not a particularly natural situation to be in.

It did work in terms of output, I'm pretty sure. It's just that all the monkeys (and pigs) died due to complications, and some had gruesome deaths

Yeah, as you correctly say, it's a global (mostly first world) phenomenon, which, in the unique (but not special) case of China, gets its unique (but not special) flavor, worth exploring.

I'm not from China, but chunks of these stories resonate with mine and my acquaintances experience, in our own country, and others are very different.
