PM Carney says China is a foreign interference, geopolitical threat for Canada

Sorry, I thought you meant 'Wayne and Shuster', the great Canadian comedy duo.
It is all in the 2025 Manifesto, the 'blueprint' that Vance is following. The entire concept of the WASPE (White Anglo Saxon Penis Elite) movement has always been for the top 20% , entirely WASPE, to completely rule over the bottom 60%, either through direct slavery or indebted servitude or just plain 'subsistence-level wage'. The last one has actually gained dominance over slavery and indebted servitude, because on the first two, there is still a sense of having to provide for the worker. Subsistence-level wage - you just fire them and your obligation is over. And paying them subsistence-level wages is cheaper than having to feed and clothe them full time, even when there is no work for them.
A big part of that, is education. Do you know what perhaps the ONLY crime a white person could commit against a Black, in the US Confederate South that would result in the death penalty? Teaching them to read.
Are we talking about the same Schuster?
And he stayed true to Canada right to the end.
Sure they did. That's what they called it. If you say so. You are the expert. I suppose you were even around then, so you know first hand.
But here is al the history books saying it was called The Great War.
And of course they expected there to be another war. That's why they also nicknamed it The War to End All Wars.
Historical revisionism, replacing historical reality with a mythical fantasy world.
If Carney gets a clear majority, with close to 50% of the popular vote for the Liberals, PP and Jagmeet will be gone. Any attempt at proportional representation will probably have to be a unilateral process driven almost entirely by the Liberals. The Cons and the NDP will be too demanding of concessions to jurry rig the system entirely in their favor.
Are you old enough to remember the movie 'Dumb and Dumber'? it was a hit in America. Seems Americans wanted to be just like them. The dumber everyone got, the more brilliant they seemed to be.
A lot of Conservatives in Canada seem to think the same way. 'Dumb is good, Dumber is even better'. And when you get REALLY dumb, you will be just as brilliant as the Americans.
The support for the Conservatives is at a twenty year near-all-time-high, at 38%. At that level, they have pretty much all the support they will ever get. Their recent 44% polling was not because the population liked the Conservative platform, but because they really disliked Trudeau. Canadians did not want to vote for the Conservatives, but they did not want to vote for Trudeau even more. Once he left, the dislike went with him. The Conservatives have completely taped out the population that their ideology appeals to. The meter just does not go higher than that for them. Unfortunately, the intelligent Canadians have all gotten their act together and have consolidated their support for the Liberals, now that they have a leader that has political traction, all but swamping the Conservatives in seats.
Yet here is PP, thinking that he can convince even MORE Canadians to support him, by being even MORE of what they obviously do not want. 62% of Canadians never liked what he said before, why does he think saying it louder will convince them to like it?
Since when is 'waking up to social injustice' an 'ideology'? I though tit was 'becoming civilized'.
You mean back when the disabled were 'warehoused' in institutions, out-of-sight out-of-mind?
Is THAT your idea of 'better'?
The only connection between the two (or three or maybe four) movies is to promote Vin D's public persona as a 'badass action figure'. The franchise is all about Vin D, not anything related to a plot.
The franchise tag 'Chronicles of Riddick', or even the promotion of the character 'Riddick', did not gel until the second movie. It is like 'The First World War' only became 'the First...' when the Second World War started. Without the second, there would be no purpose for the term 'First'.
If you had to wear the 'Necromonger' costume, you would know why it was impractical to do another movie featuring these creatures.
Like it or not, that was how the original Constitution was written, and enforced. An Oath to God was required, and Human law was not to encroach upon God's law. What was Caesar's, was Caesar's, and what was God's, was God's.
The South had absolutely no initial problem with changing the 'Constitution' unilaterally. A new Federal union, a new Constitution. I am talking about the complete collapse of the existing Union and building a complete new one from scratch, not a constitutional convention. Like GM going bankrupt, and then restructuring, nothing about the governance carries over except the name and the physical plant. A complete change in ownership and governance.
Incidentally, that is how South Asia is turning America into a branch plant operation - they are buying up the asserts (including the name and branding) of the large (and small) American corporations, and restructuring them into Asian controlled corporations. Trump is just accelerating the process. An American corporation that manufactures all (or most) of their product in Asia and imports it, goes under because they can not bring their own product in from Asia cheaply, so they go bankrupt and Asia buys the assets. That's why China will not bother to negotiate trade with Trump. They now realize his tariffs are exactly what their long range plans need. The longer they go on for, the cheaper it will be for them to 'Buy America'. The GE Appliance Division, for example. Bought by Haier, product made in America, profits go back to China.
You seem to have absolutely no grasp of the situation, but instead are just following populist mythology. The only power Trump has, is in the willingness of those around him to obey his dictates. The only direct 'power' he has that he can enforce is the power over Federal agencies under his jurisdiction. An executive order applies only to agencies that come under his direct federal control. The citizens of the United States do not, unless they are employed by the Federal institutions, have to obey nor are they bound by an Executive Order, except to the extent that they physically interact with a Federal agent. The Tariff is collected by Federal agents, under Trump's command. Trump can order them to collect the tariff. At some point, the individual States will by-pass the Federal tax collecting system and start keeping the Federal taxes for themselves. The individual States will at dome point direct State officials and State businesses and corporations to submit ALL taxes paid or collected by them to the State. Trump has absolutely no control over anything, including State laws or the non-federal courts, State troopers, or police) that come under strictly State control, and they have demonstrated that under no circumstances are they going to give Trump control to do so.
Believe me, you will not read 'optimism' into anything I say about America. It is doomed, it is finished, it is over. What I am saying is HOW it will end. It will be nothing short of a direct confrontation between individual State and Federal control. And the national Guard is strictly State control, the individual State will never give that up. The command chain in the National Guard will simply ignore Trump's commands.
There has always been a battle between State and Federal control in America. That is what Civil War 1.0 was all about. Texas, particularly, will never bend to allowing Trump to over-rule the State legislature. Texas is. probably, the most secessionist-prone state in America. "Ignoring the Law" goes in both directions.
Except the news media thinks they are, so we will probably continue to have them, if not just for the entertainment value. They fill in some of the 'air time'.
Read the headline. Your insulting, demeaning post is not welcome. It is contrary to the rules of Lemmy. If you have to resort to personal insults, you do not seem to have much to contribute.
Pitch Black was indeed shot mostly in Australia. It was the next two that were shot in Canada. I forgot that Pitch Black was part of the Chronicles of Riddick franchise, it had so little in common with them except Vin D. Almost nothing in the story line followed through the next two, it was a stand-alone movie. I should have said 'both of them' instead of 'all of them'. Maybe the next one will be filmed in Canada as well.
You are definitely NOT a military strategist. And you seem to know almost nothing about Canadian Geography. Or wind currents. The predominant wind direction takes all of the radioactivity and dumps in right in the middle of America. America becomes a radioactive waste land. So no nukes. But to use drones? Do you have an inkling of an idea how BIG Canada is, and how small even the largest 500 pound bomb is? There are not enough conventional weapons in the entire WORLD to 'lay waste' to Canada.
Canada would survive, the US not so much.
The National Guard most definitely is NOT his. It is absolutely clear that the commander-in-chief of the national Guard is the State Governor. Trump is nowhere in the command chain. Under no circumstances does the National Guard have to obey Trump. Never has obeyed a President, never will.
America never was, really, a 'democratic' country in the sense that so many were always denied the right to vote. It was 'democratic' only in the sense that those who were enfranchised to vote, could exercise that franchise given that they met certain conditions.
The original Constitution only enfranchised white male landowners to vote. If you met that threshold, you had the 'democratic right to vote'. Oh, wait, you also had to meet a list of other requirements, as well. For instance, you could be any religion you wanted, as long as it had God at the top. It was imperative to swear an oath to God. The original Constitution made that clear. No atheists or non-God-fearing need even try to vote. THAT was what they originally meant by 'freedom of religion' - freedom to worship God any way you wanted. It did NOT allow for 'freedom to NOT have a religion'.
You are right in the sense that the Constitution is being ignored. That is all part of Vance and the 2025 Manifesto. Trump will go one step too far, Vance will lead the impeachment procedures against Trump for Treason to the Constitution, Vance becomes President, and gets a totally free hand to implement his own 2025 Manifesto agenda. Incidentally, the splitting up of America leaving only a pure Republican union, ensuring the Democratic states never interfere again, is all part and parcel of the 2025 plan. Vance would rather be President of a 'pure' Republican nation than have to contend with the turmoil and chaos the Democrats would cause. That is why America is as close to civil war as it was before the start of Civil War 1.0 back almost two centuries ago. The fact is, the more the Constitution loses relevance, the more likely succession by states becomes. At some point, the Constitution becomes so irrelevant that individual states will see absolutely no need to follow it in any shape or form. They will fall back on State constitutions for their governance.
I predict, that soon the Republicans will use the turmoil over the existing Constitution, seeing as the existing Constitution is failing so badly, as a reason to completely rewrite the Constitution as they feel it should have been written And every person who points out how badly the current constitution is failing, just feeds into that argument, and America comes all that closer to ensuring a Vance victory.
Here is the thing. Ukraine has, or could easily within weeks have, nuclear capability (they were actually instrumental in developing Russia's nuclear capability, and they still have the infrastructure, knowledge, and skills) and that is actually to their detriment. It only promotes a 'first strike' mentality in the Russians.
The land border between Canada and the US is just too long for either side to defend.
But here is the thing. The only way the American army could have the resources to do it would be through the National Guard. American forces are spread too thin throughout the world. The National Guard is under the control of the individual state.
The biggest states would be well prepared to sign non-aggression treaties with Canada, meaning their National Guard could not be used. The individual States can not directly sign a treaty, but they CAN prevent their National Guard from participating. If Trump tried to take charge of them, it would for sure lead to a Constitutional Crisis. Since the Commander-in-Chief of the National Guard Units is the governor of each state, not the President, the troops are only answerable to the chain of command that ends at the state level. The individual states would have all the reason they need to secede. It would be civil war second inning in America. And some National Guard units have their own fighter jets and air bases.
That chaos is Canada's best bet for defense.
The two Michaels were both American State Department agents, with close ties to both American political parties. This is provable. One was deeply tied to the Republican party. He was the one that was active in North Korea, and helped a Republican agent, Dennis Rodman, to get an inside track with the North Korean leaders. He also worked closely with the Republican party to create back door influence with the North Koreans and the Chinese, facilitating various Republican operative visits to China. The other was a Vice President - Asian operations for International Crisis Group, a (Democratic) George Soros -influenced American State Department extension. They were both operatives for the American State Department in China. They also had Canadian passports, not American, so the Americans could not intervene. Perfect targets for the Chinese regime, in response to our Canadian government co-operating with the American State Department in their feud with Huawei.

It was absolutely not a 'random choice' that China picked the two Michaels.
