They’d close the library as a fuck you.

That would have required them to have a well-conceived plan before commencing the show. Instead, we got Klingons with craniodiaphyseal dysplasia (remember the movie "Mask" with Cher?), 10,000 inspirational speeches per episode, and life-or-death action moments that required everyone to stop everything to talk about their feelings while the ship falls apart around them.

I get the joke but to be clear, handouts are not a problem for these folks, so long as the Jesus Strings are fully attached.

It's not that they believe welfare is immoral. They believe welfare that comes without the Jesus Strings attached (i.e., welfare from the state) undermines their ability to market Jesus by giving fully Jesus-encumbered welfare to the hard up.

Plenty of folks arguing now that literally any imbalance of power is unacceptable -- I've heard people argue that it is also not time-limited. So rich people can't fuck poor people, a professor can't ever fuck a former student even if they meet years later at a conference, and don't even think about workplace romance ever again if you are talking about college educated folks. The insane rules mean that you're only allowed to date someone precisely the same as you in every way. These are the same cis het allies that helped alienate and target the trans community through absolute absurdity.

Watching Star Trek Discovery was like reading Ayn Rand, except after hammering their point over and over, all the characters get 50 page recap monologues instead of just John Galt. EDIT: I loved that it was Fabulous, but the writing felt like it was written by cis het college freshmen allies. There are ways to be queer as fuck that don’t suck donkey ballz. There were SO MANY “and then everyone clapped” moments.

I don’t think that ordinary non-billionaire humans suing Google is strong-arming by any sense of the imagination. Google has the deep pockets and the top legal team. Google could invent lawsuits about whatever the fuck it wanted to and destroy each and every one of these people until the end of time. PR is the only reason they don’t. Not fear of court imposed sanctions—they’re too slick for that.

You know, I thought that after I posted. But I don’t think there’s a damn thing going to be announced ever. Call me a pessimist.

Why the fuck is it Elizabeth Warren speaking up and the Executive is totally mum? My GOP dad thinks Muskovite fucked up majorly, caused Ukrainians to die, and should be punished. Not that he’s a bellwether, but if he thinks it was wrong, many other GOP folks do as well. Fuck billionaires playing demigods. Warren speaking up is a GOP poison pill and a guaranteed “that’s what the rich are allowed to do, frail mortal!” moment where nothing fucking happens. EDIT: I love Warren. But she gets as much traction as a jr house member.

When I lived in Pittsburgh many years ago, we had a full blizzard come through and our furnace went out in our “nice neighborhood/slumlord landlord” house. Benzene or no, the stove and oven kept us from freezing.
