I’m using Thunderbird and it works perfectly fine for me.

Still I also had to configure Evolution as I wanted the Gnome Calendar widget to display my events.

I have a 2019 Surface Go with Fedora on it and a 2006 Asus with Windows XP on it.

Planning on installing a lightweight Linux on it as it was mainly used for backups (iTunes) of my work iPhone (which I didn’t buy and didn’t choose to have).

But now that I can use my girlfriend’s Mac for that, I don’t need windows anymore. I also have a windows virtual machine in the Surface Go.

I guess we’ll keep it on Catalina for a while. But what are the risks? Could she diminish them by getting an antivirus (which I never do)?

I’m just talking about keeping your data and those of your citizens away from Apple and Microsoft.

I don’t know enough about the nazi gold, but whatever your country is, I’m sure it has a dark history too. Still this is in no way related to the original post.

I ain’t a super Linux user, but I find it crazy that so many governments aren’t scared to put their data in the hands of US corporations like Microsoft of Apple.

I work for the state in Geneva, Switzerland, and my employers gives me an iPhone and forces me to use Windows at work.

I know that developing your own Linux distribution or any other solution is difficult but my country is even using a foreign cloud service instead of a swiss one😨

It’s attractive if you already have an Apple product lying around. Otherwise I’d just avoid that brand or get a second hand one..

I’m also considering a try, but first could you tell me if you find all type of videos? I’m into Linux, PlayStation, basketball, cars and (paradoxically) ecology. Usually on other platforms than YouTube I tend to find only geeky stuff..

That would be so great ! It’s something I’d enjoy having even if I don’t think I’ll use it that much. Gnome is really great 👍

I ain’t going back to Reddit as I’ve found a nice place that keeps getting better and better on Lemmy.

The only thing I’m wondering is if you type a certain problem on Google/Bing/Ecosia, you can stumble upon something about it on Lemmy.

Personally, that’s what got me into Reddit as I was always stumbling on subreddits and I said « why not create an account »…

I also don’t understand why you would attack these instances. It makes no sense to me..

I use kDrive and it works well with Fedora. Infomaniak, the company behind kDrive, is from my country, Switzerland. It uses a lot of renewable energy and the heat from their servers is used to heat buildings in my city.

I’d be interested in checking peertube content as I’m trying to find alternatives to YouTube, but I can’t find an iOS app for that. Is there one?

I want to be able to watch these videos on my phone, not only on my computer.

I can’t agree as I love Gnome and now feel lost when I have to use windows or MacOs. The way it uses the workspace and the way your screen isn’t cluttered with informations is great for someone like me.

And extensions are there to help you with almost every limitation you encounter.

This is really interesting as it’s true that for now it’s difficult to find good vegan cheese and milk.
