  • I was looking into that after donating to Lemmy and Memmy. I can undestand how complicated it can be with the administration, but I'd really like to give 10 bucks to support sh.itjust.works and have it staying active on the long term.

  • I really like the idea of these phones and I’d really buy one of my employer wasn’t providing me a phone and allowing me to use it for my private stuff.

Of course, it might be expensive for the hardware, but just look at the price of a non repairable and non ethical iPhone.

  • In my country almost 50% of people go for an iPhone or a Samsung Galaxy. So they pay at least 400-500$ and it’s a sum which could give you a decent computer. But they usually pay through their phone subscription so they don’t see it that way.

  • Yeah but if you combine that with the fact that their computer is getting slower, can’t run some demanding games and so on.

Just look at the way people are replacing perfectly working 2 years old phones. It’s even more obvious.

  • Don’t misunderstand me, it’s still a good experience, but it’s still the most difficult Linux optimization I’ve ever had since I started installing Linux on all my computers around 2005.

But the form factor is really great if you move a lot and it’s a good tiny laptop with the typecover.

I’ve never installed the Surface kernel so I don’t know how much it would improve the experience.

  • I have a Surface Go 1 with the 128gb ssd drive that I bought as a cheap computer while I got separated from my ex in 2019. I bought it for around 4-500$ with an included typecover.

While I’m really happy with it, it’s not what I’d recommend as you really need to hook it up to a monitor when you’re at home. It’s powerful enough for me with its 8gb of ram, but the lack of upgradability is a long term problem.

I guess yours sounds too expensive and already lacking in term of specs. If I were you, I’d at least look for a more powerful second hand Surface Go as Fedora runs perfectly on it (except the camera and slow blutooth for the mouse).

  • Well whoever is taking them away should reimburse the clients if they were not made aware that they didn’t own the show but were just renting it.

These behaviors are dangerous and shouldn’t be legal. You press « buy », you own the product, not the right to watch it for a few years.

  • I’ve played the Ps5 version when it came out (around 1.60 I think) and it played pretty well except for the draw distance. But that’s a problem you get with every open world game..

You would think it would be a thing of the past with the powerful machines we now have, but I guess we’re too hungry for crazy graphics for these machines to keep up.

  • I don’t see the point of doing a remaster of that game now as it still looks and feels perfect.

But, I also won’t complain about it if it makes other people happy and lets them experience the game while allowing Naughty Dog to maximize their earnings with such a masterpiece.

I just hope a fresh project isn’t pushed back because of that remaster.

  • It’s good that these cars get reused if they work well enough.

The only question is how safe it should at least be compared to a new Tesla.

But I also think that cars have become way safer than before, so if it’s at least as safe as an old car from the 90’s, it’s good enough for me.
