  • Good news I guess as I’ll never again buy a new computer which can’t be upgraded in the long term.

It ain’t my vision anymore and I hope more and more consumers think about buying second hand or buying upgradeable computers.

  • I’ve never really written about a game, but I’m admirative of people who are able to while still enjoying the game.

The only time I tried it was on Reddit to try to redeem Dead Space 3 and encourage people to still try despite what they could hear about it. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t well written at all, but it was really sincere as I enjoyed the game 😅

  • I was talking about channels, reviewing games and so on.

    Not the odd homemade video..

Something that you could follow long term to keep being informed, like IGN or gamespot for instance.

  • Give what you can and if you can’t it’s also okay.

I’m only giving 1$ a month to the Linux Experiment, but, according to him, that’s way more than what he would get from me watching his videos on YouTube.

I’m also donating 100$ a year to many open source projects, but I might have to give up because of financial troubles too..

  • Some of them can be supported through Patreon and they’re getting way more money than through YouTube.

But it’s through that it lacks content and it’s also difficult to find content on peertube.

  • I have a Surface Go 1 with a 128gb SSD and 8gb of RAM.

I’m almost never using it as a tablet, but it runs Fedora perfectly.

I’ve installed the surface kernel on it and I only have two small problems on it:

-my Bluetooth mouse takes some time to be recognized on startup or after watching a 15 minutes video

-sometimes, without reason, the battery is depleted on startup when it was 100% as I turned the computer off correctly a day before

I wouldn’t want to give my money to Microsoft anymore, but for around 450$ in 2019 it was a great investment.

  • Yeah of course you can find everything on Reddit and clearly not that much on Lemmy.

But Lemmy is the perfect alternative for me. I only go on Reddit through web search results on Ecosia. It’s really only useful for when I’m looking for a specific answer to a specific subject.

  • Looking forward to trying it on my Virtual Machine.

I love Fedora Workstation and Gnome but I’d want to see what the fuss is about when some people are saying that Gnome is too limiting and KDE gives you much more freedom.

  • I guess so many countries are in the same position. Of course none of them is exactly in the same position, but almost every country is using Microsoft products.

To me this sounds crazy as you could have two enemies relying on the same company to provide an OS for them.

In a way, it would make sense for every country to have their own Linux distribution, tailored to their needs. I’ve only heard about India, some states in Germany doing this, but it seems like the perfect strategy.

My country is really regarding about what its employees are doing with the citizens data, but I guess they’re still relying on Microsoft to store all that data in many different countries.
