  • The idea behind lower rates is to promote investment. But investment is being severely discouraged by the absolute dumpster fire of a political environment the country is in right now where nobody knows if a "good" investment will suddenly turn into a terrible investment at the whim of the irrational toddler in charge. As a result, lowering the interest rates would most probably do nothing more than promote inflation. Powell knows that and this is why he refuses to lower the rates.

The president throwing a tantrum and trying to pressure a position that can only properly do its job of regulating the economy if it is shielded against political influence will only push investors away even more.

Buckle up Americans, looks like a great depression is coming. And it was entirely manufactured by your president's incompetence.

  • Trump picked a fight with the biggest kid in the school right after insulting and backstabbing all his friends. Now he's crawling back begging his friends to come and help him.

If Trump wants the US's ex-allies to help, he better step down from the presidency. It is the only way I see anyone willing to help the US right now.

  • Windows: "There is something wrong with that weird drive I've just found. Do you want me format it to 'fix' it?"

Me: "Alright Windows, your permission to exist on my computer has been revoked."

  • Even cheaply you can still easily find something to make buttons that are of a consistent size and shape. And not put one of them on top of the edge panel of the console like one of them is on the picture. This is a typical telltale sign of AI: things that aren't uniform when they should be and are located in nonsensical places.

There is also asymmetry and sewing lines that make no sense between the left and right gloves and what looks like is supposed to be a pair of pens on his upper right arm is just two nonsensical blobs of crome texture.

No one seems to know about what movie or show this is supposed to be from either...

  • China already said they wouldn't raise tariffs anymore since they're so high already it wouldn't matter. That means the next step might be dumping US bonds now, which is a nuclear option.

In response to that, Trump, who is incapable of thinking of anything else just does this moronic tariff raise.

  • This guy has himself surrounded by yes men and is locked into his own disinformation bubble for most of the time. Getting a glimpse of what people who aren't kissing his ass really are thinking about him must have been quite the whiplash for his tiny sick mind to take.

  • Hear me out: We pool our money together to pay for the infrastructure. It will be a percentage of your income for it. Those who make more money pay a higher percentage because they benefit from that infrastructure more. Then we have organizations to make sure the money is fairly collected and responsibly spent and make sure they can do their work unhindered.

Oh wait, that's like the opposite of what Trump has been doing.

  • When I told my father, who has been using computers since the MS-DOS days and is by no mean technology-illiterate, that I switched to Linux, his response was "What's Linux?".

I knew it was a lost cause to explain him about privacy, or control and ownership of his own device. He uses Windows 11 and as long as it does what he needs it to do he will never care enough about switching over.

  • A good part of the Southern US economy was originally based on slave labour and since its abolition the business culture and mentality never moved on from it. They've just found new ways to have cheap labour that they can exploit to different levels. Immigrants, "unskilled" workers, rented prison labour... Now that the immigrant workers are being kicked out, they're looking for replacements to fill the gap.
