  • Gigabytes, or gibibyte? Yes gibibyte is a thing.
As much as i hate to say it, but due to marketting fuckery the usage of byte has ruined it all as a 2TB drive is not 2 * 1024 * 1024 * 1024 * 8 bits but instead 2 terabit ( 2*1000000000 )

Then comes the discussion if "1KB" is 1024 bytes or if 1000 bytes is a kilobyte. If you ask me, 1KB is 1024 bytes. If you ask the people using the kibibytes system, 1KB is 1000 bytes...

Shits fucking complex and fucked up. Cant go wrong if you say it in bits though

  • Fairphone 4 running lineageos, have never had this happen :/

  • The only thing windows 11 had that windows 10 didnt is wslg ( the integrated x server in windows substystem for linux, aka the linux vm inside windows ), but they ported that to win10 last year. Fuck windows 11...

  • Its a constant urge building up for me. The longer i do something without saving, the bigger the urge becomes to save. The urge was grown from moments of despair of having lost hours and hours of work hehe

  • To be fair, most games these days have build in update checking, and more and more multiplayer games are always-online-or-piss-off type of games which shoot down your idea. I wish it was still possible in all games, but alas...

  • Imo it shouldnt run w11, but imo they shouldnt have stuck a eol date on windows 10 either which could have kept those systems alive.
You know -> new systems = w11, old systems = w10, both get security updates, but win11 gets feature updates as well.
They can manage both just fine, yet here we are -_-

Also, w10 runs like sheit on older systems. Had to dig on ebay to keep my mom's pc ( core2duo e7300 ) alive and kicking as 4GB of ram was not enough. It was swapping like mad... Windows 7 was the last good windows... -_-

  • There is a difference between intel core processors and processors > whatever is 'needed' for w11 (10th gen?). Dont get me wrong, im ok with this change. A 2006 pc shouldnt run w11..

  • Not only voters, also politicians. Everyone can be influenced, even those in power :)

  • Im not seeing the immersive tech go anywhere any time soon. Microsoft tried it, google tried it, a shit ton of other small businesses tried it. Its not going to go where these businesses live. Id like to be proven wrong but it feel like its just not. We miss the kill app and if it existed with current tech, it wouldve been made already.

I think its best to lay current MR/AR/spacial computing to rest and wait a few years like what happened with 3d/vr in the past 40 years :)

  • Link in post links to their github to me. They probably made it an image post to have the funimation image in the post :)

  • Its a classic company move tbh. Make something, develop it further, hope it catches on and if it doesnt kill it off because maintaining it costs money.
Its a classic and understandable move. Microsoft has done it a few times tbh. Zune, windows phone, webtv, silverlight, ... :')

  • You READ it? What kind of madlad are you?!?!

  • Hey, just chiming because we might both get downvoted to hell for this. After reading your comments i have altered my mindset on this somewhat and i agree that this is a presedent you dont want to go over easily. Its a knife that cuts both ways an can be used to cut you, once both parties see its possible. It would also be a funny moment when people vote for a canidate in their state, only for their spokesperson to not be able to vote for said canidate, making him, or her, not the president.

Whatever happens, the power hungry of all sides need to follow the rules, and just like everything about trump is a fucking presedent that we need to analyse and handle very carefully...

  • Hahaha, well played good sir/madam

  • What defines being on earth? Below the atmosphere? stratosphere? Being in contact with the ground? Being more than 10m up?

  • Nope. My switch is fine. Played diablo 1 on it recently too :p

  • This post kinda infuriates me. Gary bowser is not an innocent, fragile little guy here. He is the sock puppet of Max Louarn, the basically mob boss of all major piracy groups in the world.
Gary is also part of the gang ( that max also owns ) that is working on new switch piracy hardware, months after he got out of jail.
They were also caught selling open source software that was breaking its copyright license, while including their own code that could brick switch systems and more.

This is not a story of big bad company vs small fragile guy. Not even close.
