When I was young and the "internet" was becoming a thing, there'd be movies with hackers. In every movie where there was a hacker, the movie would make a very big production of how the hacker was routing their communication through a series of proxies to try to hide the where their position actually was.
This was back in the late 80's or early 90's.
So now there's whole ass companies that will rent out server space/virtual machines by the hour for a handful of bucks and you pretty much get to do whatever you want with them.
Whole ass businesses exist that create and maintain large volumes of throwaway accounts for every social media platform ever.
Bot scripts exist to just take a database of user names, passwords, and generic instruction and just need to be pointed where they need to execute.
So like, nowadays, a single person with an axe to grind and a wallet full of beer money can just, mass report, mass upvote/downvote, comment spam, etc.
Profitability might not be the issue, neither are supposed to function solely to make a profit. From the linked blog post, referencing an email, it is stated that its costing more than the revenue can support.
From a general internet search:
c(3)'s can't engage too much (or at all) in legislative stuff but a c(6) can
c(3)'s are supposed to do things to help a group outside of itself while c(6)'s are supposed to exist to support their members
c(6)'s aren't required to report personal information of a person/entity making a donation to the IRS or public
The one thing that the Liberals have decided to take a stand on, "Russia Bad!", to the point that they'll keep the war machine churning through Ukranian bodies until its some other administration's responsibility to turn off the US money spigot. Then they'll squeal about it being a Putin Puppet's doing or some shit.
They poured what I eat for breakfast every morning on a chunk of stone. I think it'll be fine.
