  • Food is only one factor, and no one has the right to dictate the diet of others. Food is a core part of culture, and destruction of culture is one of the definitions of genocide.

Housing, transport, pollution, these are all problems at such collosal scales given the size of the human population that it simply isn't sustainable.

The sooner that humanity returns to a more sustainable population the better.

There’s a long way between our surplus of food and food insecurity.

Food insecurity is mostly a logistics problem when examined globally. There is no solving that without an increase in energy usage.

  • I’ve had people give me so much shit for how bad I said my dislocated shoulder was pain wise so hearing a couple other people echo that experience is vindicating.

I first dislocated it at an ice hockey tournament, got it put back in and played the rest of the tournament.

  • He adds that countries with small populations and high salaries cannot compete against countries with big populations on low salaries: “Russia and China have huge armies of over a million. Small countries with standing armies on high salaries don’t have enough forces. That’s why smaller countries should have conscription.”

There it is, there is a push for conscription in Australia due to historically low recruitment for the Australian Defence Forces.

This is an attempt at normalising conscription and nothing more.

I’m against conscription and I have family that have served in the ADF, in war time, and they also oppose it.

  • There are too many cultural factors involved to get a majority of people to stop eating meat.

The best way to reduce the number of livestock killed is to reduce the number of humans.

  • Having an expensive home doesn’t mean you’re rich.

You could have a mortgage on it, could have bought it when it was cheaper, which itself can be a problem with taxes and rates, or inherited it.

People can find themselves locked into an expensive property, or are in a position where it would be stupid to sell.

Yet again people on Lemmy demonstrate that they don’t comprehend wealth in the slightest.

None of these homes are outrageous for a skilled tradesmen to own. If you track wages and inflation this is what middle class looked like in the 70’s.

The rich occupy a completely different economic strata to these home owners. You have zero clue.

  • Gonna need a citation on that one, numerous accounts by cannibals state that human tastes like a better pork.

They might be biased but I doubt they’re far off the mark when human flesh is commonly called long pig.
