Get a degree in accounting. The last person to ever get the axe when jobs start getting cut are the accountants. It will be a boring job but the thing is, boring is good! Boring means your needs are met and you aren't stressed out. Boredom is a first world problem. An easy, boring job that pays well is what I would tell my 27 y/o self to go for if I could. I've given my (now adult) kids this same advice FWIW.

You're assuming that I'm assuming things.... All I stated was that US civilians have access to military grade firearms and accessories and that person (and people in general) should procure one for themself. Also mentioned some stuff about open carrying at protests...

An AR15 or AK is plenty good enough. And if you have the money you can also get basically whatever night/thermal vision equipment your wallet can handle. At least in the USA still. If your handgun doesn't feel like enough (I agree that it's not) then I suggest you get yourself a long gun (and lots of ammo) before you can't anymore. Silver lining to all this bullshit is guns and ammo are as cheap as they've been in a long time. Unfortunately no one has any money..

Also you're right about it being suicide. But that's only if you're alone. Open carrying during protests has historically actually been pretty effective at keeping the peace. That's also how guns got/get banned though. The Black Panthers and Ronald Reagan for example.

At some point they have to fall in line and follow orders. Or fade into obscurity. It's a truly shitty system. One long overdue for a big reset..

The current administration wants to cut for timber, dig for minerals and metals, and in places where this isn't possible or have been completed, build "Freedom Cities" where corporations rule like nation states. Free from regulation and oversite. Their whole plan is tremendously fucked for the common American.

And when you consider the amount of bots on there... many of which were Russian, and proven to be attempting to influence our elections, these bots go unchecked. But Luigi getting upvotes warrants a ban.... holy shit man what a world now.

Now that Reddit is owned by the wealthy elite they cannot be trusted. Every list of "companies we should boycott" needs to have Reddit on there with the rest of em.

Totally with you. Tracking accounts and what they upvote and downvote and then banning specific accounts is pretty well fucked. All-the-while allowing and even enabling bots to flourish..... Reddit is a mostly liberal flavored Facebook now. Total trash at this point. Nearly every sub just a bot filled echo chamber inside a library of echo chambers. Almost zero critical thinking. Obvious lies everywhere that are amplified until they become accepted as truth. Just like X/FB/IG/etc.

On a positive side the general public opinion on Reddit is mostly encouraging. It still has that going for it. But power corrupts. And Reddit is a publicly traded company now. Beholden to it's shareholders and investors. Hopefully Lemmy grows and fills that void now that Reddit has decided to side with the wealthy elite by censoring our voices. Now that Reddit is literally owned by these wealthy elite (just like all the rest) they cannot be trusted anymore.

I've been self medicating for decades with nicotine and THC. It works well for me. I guess I'm lucky.

I'm not allowed to use reddit anymore after I stated that I would defend myself with a knife if attacked. Apparently that's considered threatening violence...
