  • If get rid of the fork too.

Could probably file down and reglaze the handles on the engagement mugs. The uncomfortable mug could be used to hold toothbrushes or something and the champagne glasses can be candle holders.

  • It's almost like killing hundreds of people at a time by building terrible products while ignoring safety regulations and silencing whistle blowers is a bad thing.

But at the end of the day. They are a "defense" company so they got nothing to lose.

  • Large Language Models don't reason either. The idea that Artificial General Intelligence will come from LLMs is pure fallacy to drive stock price. When it is eventually announced that some company claims to have achieved AGI via LLMs, it will just be another arbitrary milestone that moves the goalposts more.

  • I don't have much experience with AMD gpus on Arch.

I was looking at the Arch AMD GPU wiki page and it looks like you might also need to run

    pacman -S vulkan-radeon lib32-vulkan-radeon mesa lib32-mesa xf86-video-amdgpu

But admittedly there's a lot about AMD GPU drivers I don't understand. Like how to verify your driver in installed correctly.

You might also want to try out amdgpu_top or radeontop to monitor what the GPU is doing.

  • Would need a bit more context too help diagnose.

First question is if you're HDMI or DisplayPort cable is actually plugged into the GPU or if it's plugged into the monitor.

Now depending on your desktop environment (DE), you should be able to verify what aspect ratio your display is actually set to by going to your display settings. Again this depends on your DE, how to do this in gnome is different than how to do it in kde.

You can also verify if your game is set to output 2160p (4k). Sometimes game settings get reset depending on the game. Also make sure the game is actually using your GPU. Maybe try a linux native game like super tux cart just to help diagnose the issue.

Also how did you verify that you have the latest drivers for your gpu

  • This was my first thought and I wouldn't be surprised considering that My Neighbor Totoro and Grave of the Fireflies was originally released as a double feature. Meaning they were intended to be watched one after the other.

Both movies have direct (sometimes shot for shot) parallels which portray the dichotomy of childhood life. For example, the scene in GotF where they frantically try to evacuate the house vs in MNT where they are playfully searching the house for the staircase. This video does a good job of describing it.

  • Signal no longer requires a phone number to sign up for. Also telegram really should not be recommended at all if the focus is on privacy.

Update: I am wrong, signal does require a phone number.

Maybe try simplex as that doesn't require a phone number.

  • Honestly I didn't look at the community, but it shouldn't matter since criticism should be embraced when it's made in good faith. Also I don't care if I get down voted.

Some Nintendo fans just want to buy Nintendo things and enjoy the experience because they love the games.

I agree 100%. And I like these games too. I'm just saying that it's the games and not the console which is the actual thing that these users love and enjoy.

I doubt users enjoy buying new consoles every few years, dealing with supply chain issues, privacy issues, and contributing to our throw away society.

I used to game on consoles too till my Xbox 360 got a red ring of death, my PS2 just stopped working, and my gamecube stopped reading disks. I realized that I could do nothing to fix them, they had to be recycled, and I would have to replace them with something else. Around the same time I realized how much I can do with a PC. From work, to watching movies, listening to music, and yes even gaming. But the cherry on top was how easy they were to upgrade, change parts, and fix.

I'm not saying that Nintendo shouldn't be involved in how their games run. But I am saying there really should be other options. Even Sony release games on PC.

  • I already have upgraded hardware that can run switch games. It's called a computer. I built it mostly using parts being sold at offices that were going out of business. I only needed to buy a GPU and a decent PSU. I found a free open source OS, booted it up and installed an open source program called ryujinx. And I barely have any issues playing games on it.

Imagine if Nintendo, instead of wasting all this time, money, rare earth minerals, and contributing to global heating by manufacturing these rather pointless consoles, simply developed games that could be ran on a computer or decently powerful smart phone.

They could focus on making games.

  • My guess is that if a 4090 is bottlenecked 5% on pcie 3.0 (although I think it's closer to 10%). Also if pcie 4.0 is double the speed as 3.0, and pcie 5.0 is double 4.0. Then the bottleneck will be closer to 10% if running a 5080 on pcie 3.0.
