  • Mate we're extremely in debt trying to get Iraq and Iran to bend the knee like all the other countries we've imperialized and not only is it not working, it looks like its never going to work. In the 1950s we held 50% of the worlds wealth. Not only will there be a decline in the near future, the decline has been going on for 30 years

  • Fascism is simply the conclusion of capitalism. Antifa is a bunch of socialists because socialism is the only cure. Anticomm and Fascism have so much overlap as movements because they're the same movement. Even in the historical context of the first rise of fascism, who took the reins of power was people promising the capital holders they'd protect them from those scary laborers. And do you know what we don't talk about enough in America? We don't talk enough about why fascism didn't take hold here. Its because in the 1920s the capital holders had seen what would happen in America if they tried to do a fascism: the coal miners rose up in violent revolt. We had what legitimately qualified as a civil war in West Virginia with the labor movement. It's one of only two times american citizens on home soil have been bombed by an air force.

My concern is this: we don't have enough people in this country right now who love their brethren enough to stand against fascism. I ask everyone to do this: look at the Black Lives Matter movement. Realize what the African American communities right next to you are doing to resist the police brutality they experience, the fascism they are already experiencing and resisting. Join them. Link arms with them. The reality is the antifascist movement in America is nothing new. How we prevent fascism from rising is we make sure the violent weirdos know we are many and they are few. Make sure they know they don't have the man power to take over

  • Oh man you're so close to getting the point...

We don't have enough comfort and free time to do art! That's an actual legitimate thing that's going on right now

  • Its also worth noting Graphene's focus on pixel devices stems from those devices having more easily secured hardware. Which android fork you decide to use will depend on your particular use case. I wound up going with a Pixel and Graphene for android auto. But if you're someone with existing hardware that you want to set up with a degoogled os, there's e/os, lineageos, CalyxOS, iodé, and, if you wanna get really weird, postmarket os. Having done a deep dive into this I can honestly day there's no single OSFA answer to this.

  • The latest f-droid release has been causing me headaches and I've switched (for the time being) to droid-ify. Which also has some headaches but no show stoppers. Of the two, I can definitely say I prefer f-droid. I hope this helps someone find what they want in an app installing app

  • I tried Floris board. Its particular rough patches are deal breakers for me, but I'm sure my keyboard of choice has rough patches that would be deal breakers for potential Floris board users. I hope some people see your comment and give it a try. It seems like a promising project

  • Exactly. I don't even think of myself as having escaped surveillance capitalism. I've made it less lucrative though. All that data they're mining? I've done a little bit of work to make sure the mines are tapped out. I'm gonna keep working to convince others that there's value in doing the same. Its all part of telling these greedy shitheads we won't accept their global destruction anymore

  • Yeah I use play store because I have to have some stuff furnished from play store for work but aurora store is a great way to acquire those apps you do need to get through life but that aren't open source

  • So I don't want to tell you to panic but I can't find anything about "dslul" or their version of openboard. The questions I have are as follows:

    1. How did you acquire this apk? (F-Droid, play store, obtainium, regular download?)
    2. Do you have hypatia installed? If not, can you install it and run a device scan to see if there's any known malicious blobs on your device?
    3. Please take a look at heliboard. I know its weird to tell people they're safer going with the most popular options, but legitimately we're a pack animal. We do better when we look out for each other and this may be a case where it's best to go to the version of this project that has the most eyes on it
  • Yeah I'm over simplifying on purpose here. The bottom line is piping into sh is dangerous

  • A deb is just a zip file that gets unpacked to where your binaries go. A shell script you curl pipe into shell could contain literally any instructions

  • "Richard Stallman is a sexist and a transphobe"

    "You're a corporate shill!"

Like I couldn't have possibly reached that conclusion based on the things that he says or the way the be acts...

  • I'm glad I get to introduce you to it! The biggest instance is Codeberg. Fediverse integration isn't there yet but the general consensus is its coming very soon since that's Codeberg's main focus for the forgejo project right now

  • Piping curl into sh in install instructions is a fast track to me not taking a project seriously

  • I've run into one issue in my time on a weird self hosted platform. The DMV said "oh. Let me call IT and get that unblocked" and then they did and it was done. All other times have been fine

  • Ask yourself. What motive does someone have to want trump dead?

Hint: a large number of someones have a large number of motives
