  • "raising fears of ethnic cleansing" really? I guess I'm happy they are at least reporting it but then what has the past two years been if not an ethnic cleansing? Even when a news agency reports on it you get this like passive bullshit

  • I get saying it's wrong what he said (you would be right) but imo it's kinda missing the point. The most important thing to see imo is it's extremely pathetic. This is the same mf faking Path of Exile and diablo accounts so he can seem cool (he kept saying he was a top player so he would get kudos from the gaming community).

This man is probably the most thin skinned idiot I've ever seen. So it must be extremely convenient for him to see himself as the bad guy with no empathy whose cold rational calculation leads to emotionless decisions or whatever huge cope he tells himself every day. The reality is he's got more money than God and is running the current US administration and yet is still so mentally weak he is posting on Twitter hundreds of times per day about how he's being persecuted and actually arguing in the comment sections

  • Do we know these are civilian phones? My assumption was these are not civilian phones because why let them bring their phones if there's no cell network to operate on and no internet.

Edit: You might be right it mentions they can get Internet when it's not underway so maybe they have their civilian phones. I am not in the navy so I don't know the procedures. Still bad cuz of the other reasons plus some about giving them the ability to target those networks from a deauth'd perspective but yeah the last reason might not be the case.

It wouldn't shock me tho if they still had access to some like nonclassified but controlled info too on their phones.

  • I don't know the exact details of their setup but I would imagine if they have phones on the ship there's a network they can connect to on the ship that's not their starlink internet.

Aside from being able to possibly identify the starlink waveforms with passive RF surveillance or being able to identify the location of the ship through hacking spacex or their satellites, if they went back and forth between being connected on their phones to the ship network and the internet, their phones could have been compromised, leaving the possibility also of them being a perfect pivot point for hackers interested in exfilling important government secrets.

Overall just very bad opsec for a ship and definitely not a good idea.

  • Imo just use something else. If your build system is really simple just write the Makefiles yourself. If the build system tho needs to be really complex I would use something like meson or scons (Having worked on some gigantic fully GNU make build systems it can get pretty out of hand).

This is all a personal preference thing but cmake in my experience is really non intuitive and a pain to debug. I know it works for a lot of people but I definitely prefer particularly like scons since its python I have a bit easier time understanding what's happening.

If you really need to use cmake, use a debugger like another user commented. There's also a GNU make debugger in case you need to debug makefiles

  • Oh wait I forgot my favorite of all. Although idk how popular it is because its not on a standard platform

This game is incredible. Genuinely like probably the best game I've ever played. It simulates an economy fairly accurately (using the different colonies outputs and inputs to determine prices dynamically). In addition to this colonies can be hurt by you or other parties, affecting the prices of items on the market significantly so you can try to make your money on this margin.

There's space fleet battles with a complex ship modification system. There's colony management, it has an interesting early game and it keeps your interest as you get further in the game with new challenges.

It is $15 dollars and is technically in early access (which tbh is a steal). Though in practice my experience with it is not remotely reflective of it being early access. It's a little like how dwarf fortress was in early access (although unlike df before the steam launch there is a frontend that's really solid).

  • I also really enjoyed cult of the lamb: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1313140/Cult_of_the_Lamb/

It's a game where you are a little sheep creature that runs a cult. It's a mix of a management game and a roguelike since you go on runs to fight the games main bosses and get items to bring back to improve your cult.

Art style kinda reminds me of Klei's Don't Starve and is probably one of the most impressive parts of the game

Though this one is more well known. Still, I hadn't heard of it before so I think sometimes games with even a big following like this one can stay off the radar a bit unless they are truly massive.

  • For my it's Bone's Café.

Imagine overcooked but where you kill and use your customers as ingredients and can raise skeletons from the dead to automate as your chefs and servers. It's overall a very well put together game, especially for one with 240 reviews (total)

I haven't played it couch co-op but the solo play has been really enjoyable

  • I regularly say "Art of the deal" ironically when I observe someone win in a low stakes negotiation. I guess that's also kinda it's always sunny but it's definitely trumpian as well

  • So much lib apologism holy shit. First of all I responded to the users comment. They are correct about that but just because the two said they would oppose doesn't mean biden did his best.

The biden admin fought tooth and nail? What did he fight for? You think I'm supposed to accept the one thing he fought for, student debt cancellation as some sort of pity policy? Trump came out all the time pushing the window to the right, fighting for his policy. You literally could not make him shut up about the border while Biden hardly ever used his platform meaningfully to bully others in the government into doing what needed to be done to build political power for the democrats. If you can't see that then I think you might not understand the full extent of the power of the presidency. Where's decriminalizing weed? When did he push for the minimum wage? Those were like his main campaign promises. The worst part is especially with weed he could have just descheduled it but instead he just lowered it by a single schedule to raise his approval rating.

I don't get why you have such a hard-on for biden. He did some good things but that doesn't excuse his negligent misuse of his political appointment at a time when our democracy depends on it.

With regards to Obama, do I have to complain about every politician I don't like whenever I criticize any other politician? Obama sucked at this too and this is in many ways more his fault than Biden's but do I really need to bring him up every time I go to criticize other democrats?!

  • In the case they reverse it then we are back at square 1 except we had a more progressive supreme court for a bit. I don't see how this makes our situation worse. I guess we should also give up and never bother with executive orders since they can just be undone when the Republicans get in

  • It's possible but there was at least an opportunity to try putting forth some moderate judges which would have a chance to pull over center Republicans or Sinema/Manchin. Or at least force the issue. I believe they also had a chance after Roe V Wade before election time in November when the political will was more there to defend the abortion issue by getting a supreme court more favorable on the issue
