  • You can do parametric design in other CAD software, but openscad, being a coding software, lends itself particularly well for that.

In my experience doing parametric design in Fusion360 is a lot more tedious than in OpenSCAD.

  • Yeah and like anything getting big, here we are, Discord trying to go public and fuck everything over. The cow is fat enough to be milked then butchered until it's nothing but bones and scraps.

  • Wasn't Skype the best audio/video protocol at the time? Everything else around it was terrible, but I remember that skype was the only voice call software that worked well for me on shitty connection back in the day.

  • I split my docker containers so that I can selectively backup what I want easily on proxmox

For example, I am currently running an Abiotic Factor server that I don't care to backup. So I just dont add the container to the backups and I am done.

  • Whenever I can, my code isn't ready yet, it needs a few tweaks until the code is viable. That way, if I can never touch the code again, it has a chance to not be terrible in the future

  • It's a rarity because the nano second a prototype works, it never gets touched again because management only heard it works and don't give dev more times to make it proper.

So imagine management deciding to ask devs to go back and clean-up a codebase, pure fantasy.

  • I work as an embedded developer and when a new board is produced and half tested, every one expects fully functional code off the bat, right away.

Motherfucker, you didn't even qualify your hardware and you expect my code, that hasn't hit the new board, to be 100% functional, based on your mind map? We will find hardware issues that will inevitably be blamed on the code and spend hours "debugging" the code to eventually find out the hardware is shit.

  • Nothing changed during Trump's first presidency disaster and nothing has changed after the pandemic. It won't happen and this is fucking sad.

Best we csn do is piss away money on mega corpos thst won't do jackshit.

  • The IT paradox :

    • "Why am I paying you when everything works?"
    • "Why am I paying you when everything has gone to shit?"

You are right that vaccines worked so well because mostly everyone had them, and mostly everyone has to take them for them to work.

Village idiots got a support system and crossed the threshold where the herd immunity has diminished enough for outbreaks in communities.
