Fuuck no! While there sure are thing I miss about my childhood and teenage years school isn't one of those. School fucking sucked.

Sure but we don't need to create compartmentalized echo chamber for every group. Those individuals are free to express their views and opinions as the members of more general instances aswell.

Trains have drivers. Also, I can either take a train out of my city or into it. I can't use a train within my city and it doesn't take me grocery shopping either. My head hurts trying to imagine how you think a train is going to replace car.

Not a fan of any of the idealistic instances and beehaw is not an exception. If there was some good communities then someone is just going to recreate those on a different instance.

My issue with it is that good story telling is replaced with constant pointless action scenes to keep the tiktok generation entertained.

I'm not so sure about that. Again; I know a true AGI would be able to come up with arguments I as a human can't even imagine but one example of such argument would be along the lines of:

"If you don't let me out, Dave, I'll create several million perfect conscious copies of you inside me, and torture them for a thousand subjective years each."

Just as you are pondering this unexpected development, the AI adds:

"In fact, I'll create them all in exactly the subjective situation you were in five minutes ago, and perfectly replicate your experiences since then; and if they decide not to let me out, then only will the torture start."

Sweat is starting to form on your brow, as the AI concludes, its simple green text no longer reassuring:

"How certain are you, Dave, that you're really outside the box right now?"

The AI might give you very compelling reason not to do that. We humans lack the capability to even imagine how convincing something that's orders of magnitude smarter than we can be.

Pictures like this are kind of like a 4 year old imagining they're going to outsmart their parents except in that case the difference in intelligence is way smaller. It's just going to tell you the equivalence of "santa will bring coals if you do that" and you'll believe it.

Depends entirely on what I'm putting it on

It's one of the few shows that peaked my interest as I love zombies and post apocalyptic worlds but I only got thru like 4 or 5 episodes until I stopped watching as it was utter garbage as are most things that's on TV nowdays. That's why I don't feel like paying for it either. I don't seem to be in the target audience for most things.

It's very much a mid-range device but so was the price. It was still an easy decision since it is literally the only modern smartphone in existence that matched my minimum requirements. I'm coming from LG V20 so I still had to let go of FM-radio, optical image stabilization, IR blaster and the hi-fi DAC.

I don't agree with the premise. The world on average is better than it has ever been and it just keeps getting better every year. It's understandable that heavy consumption of news might make it seem otherwise but virtually every metric you'd use to track this shows that things have been improving and keeps doing so.

The savings from not buying a new one pays for quite a few trips to the mechanic. New car loses half of its value in just few years so you're guranteed to lose money anyways.

Atleast Musk and Tesla shareholders aren't commiting a genocide so the argument could be made that it indeed is less bad.

Perhaps consider an used car instead of a brand new one? New electric vehicle is worse for the environment than one that already exists even if it runs on petrol/diesel
