  • Today, I paid $7.79 for a dozen, extra large, white, store brand eggs here in New Jersey.

  • If we're talking about using existing technology to achieve a semblance of Internet functionality without the Internet, that might include Sneakernet, Pirateboxes, and Deadswaps. Or if you want to get sci-fi with it, there might be human couriers or data mules like in Johnny Mnemonic.

  • Hmmm. Is there a slur for people who eat synthetic meat?

It just occurred to me that I cannot think of a slur for vegans or vegetarians off the top of my head.

  • Is a carnist anyone who happens to consume animal protein or just any of a dozen or so influencer/charlatans who advocate for meat consumption?

  • Is egg production really that bad for the planet? Isn't it a decent source of fertilizer for plant based food production?

  • The headline means newly manufactured e-bikes with lead acid batteries.

  • Are AGM batteries really inferior? Sure, they're heavier, but they aren't vulnerable to autoignition and thermal runaway. They also contain less conflict minerals than other types of batteries.

  • It's absolutely on Biden, the Democrats, and the Universities for their crackdown on the pro-Palestinian protestors since Operation al-Aqsa Flood. Otherwise there would have been no criminal charges to use as a pretext for this order. The protests were peaceful until the authorities and unrestricted pro-Israel mobs escalated.

  • At this point, accepting the pardon only really helps trump.

How? If the stakes were so low for these two, why are they getting any veneration? Pardons are rare. People hope and pray for them everyday. It's disgraceful and selfish to reject one.

  • Trump is not “recognizing acceptance of responsibility,” he outright thinks what they did was good.

    Lol so what?

Accepting his help is to all but say “I did nothing wrong.”

How? Is it not possible to accept a pardon while admitting culpability and accepting responsibility? To say that it isn't in to contradict the explanation I found on the justice.gov site.

That sure is one hell of a nasty statement.

Like I said, the January Sixthers are all morons. These pardon refusers are just the least sympathetic of them. So many people hope and pray for a pardon everyday. It's incredibly selfish to reject one.

  • Maybe it doesn't automatically expunge the record, but a pardon does fully restore one's civil rights. If they were pardoned then they received "…complete forgiveness of a crime and…" had their "…full rights of citizenship" restored.(Source.)

A pardon is an expression of the President’s forgiveness and ordinarily is granted in recognition of the applicant’s acceptance of responsibility for the crime and established good conduct for a significant period of time after conviction or completion of sentence. It does not signify innocence. It does, however, remove civil disabilities – e.g., restrictions on the right to vote, hold state or local office, or sit on a jury – imposed because of the conviction for which pardon is sought, and should lessen the stigma arising from the conviction. It may also be helpful in obtaining licenses, bonding, or employment. (Source.)

In other words, these pardon refusers are self-righteous twerps. Maybe they don't deserve whatever rights they've given up on that basis alone.

  • All of the January Sixthers are morons, especially these pardon refusers. Take the pardon and get the charge off your record.

  • Lol my old Maytag is probably the most polite and introverted appliance in my house.

  • The Houthis have literally fired back at US forces already. It's embarrassing that an editor approved this phrasing in the headline and body text.
