  • Yeah, it seems a little epicurean to devote an entire instance to stoicism.

  • Yeah, the headline is a little misleading. It's definitely an indictment that he had anything to do with those people, but to say that he graduated from there implies that he's earned some modicum of respect. That doesn't appear to be the case at all.

  • Ah, well. Nevertheless!

  • I think he had at least one Indian coworker and his Twitter account was specifically racist against Indians. Who was going to bother to fight to keep this twenty-something from Rutgers around?

  • No, it was a protest that, like many in this country, featured instances of vandalism and violence as a direct result of bad crowd control and escalation by law enforcement. Calling it an insurrection means accepting a precedent for harsher criminalization of future protests of all types and their associated movements, especially the ones that threaten capital. It also means dishonoring the likes of heros who really did go for it, like John Brown.

  • I think it's hyperbole to call January 6th an insurrection. Regardless, fomenting an angry mob of morons is nothing compared to ethnically cleansing 1.8 million people.

  • I agree that impeachment is mostly ineffectual, but the first two times were for relatively BS charges. At least this time it's for something serious.

  • Are you sure that your water supply won't install a PFAS/PFOS removal system in the next few years? If they do then your investment will have been for naught. It took my town's supply about two years to get a system installed and running.

  • Thermal runaway probably shouldn't be a realistic consequence of bad quality in any consumer product.

  • That's what I'm thinking, that in the right hands a sovereign wealth fund would give the government a more subtle and possibly more effective means to acquire controlling stakes in various corporations than eminent domain.

  • Thanks, that's the one. I don't know why my memory of that person included eyeglasses.

  • Whatever happened to Hogg's classmate that was also became an activist after the shooting? I forgot her name, but I'm pretty sure that she had short hair and glasses. Is it just me or has she been out of the picture?

  • Alice: Make me a sandwich.

    Bob: No. Go fuck yourself.

Alice: sudo make me a sandwich.

    Bob: Okay. Here you go.

  • Every vegan and vegetarian I've met in person has been pretty normal and non-judgemental about it.
