  • They are jingoists, and jingoists are no different than schoolyard bullies who want to appear tough so they loudly proclaim how tough and big they are, which includes an occasional show of force against those they believe won't/can't defend themselves to reinforce their image of being the biggest Tough Guy™ around.

If they win, they win. If they lose, it's because they decided it wasn't worth their time and left willingly, not because they lost.

This country has always been stuck up its own ass.

  • Nah mate, people in general across all walks of life have an incredibly difficult time putting themselves into a perspective that isn't their own. Humans are built to be biased towards our personal experiences. It's a trap we can all fall into.

I will agree though that leftists usually recognize it more because a lot of leftist theory was founded as a direct criticism of what became known as right wing ideology and how it engaged in class warfare. It entirely will depend on how educated in theory one is to recognize and understand the alternative viewpoint.

  • I have, but only fighting games because that first month of online play is heaven when there is no meta established and no one has muscle memory yet.

But yea, fuck Gearbox, I uninstalled every Borderlands Game after the new changes to EULA. Fuck them having kernal access.

  • It was always just art for your body.

People who got tattoos wanted to be able to express themselves in the way they desired, by decorating their body with artwork, and didn't appreciate having their decision dictated by arbitrary standards that they did not agree to. They weren't doing it for the sake of rebellion, it was just called rebellion because it went against the social expectations of the time.

People often do not understand the reason behind the act of rebellion and attribute those engaging in the activities as being done for the sake of rebellion itself instead of some deeper cause.

  • The racist is the one bitching about long nails, a predominant standard of beauty in black culture, and how much it makes them uncomfortable.

Like, no one needs to hear your judgement of someone else's choice of personal expression. Ever heard the phrase "ain't got nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all"? This is where that applies.

  • Yea. There is "having personal tastes" but a lot of these comments are just straight up judgmental of other people's choices of personal expression and using this post as an excuse to espouse some pretty harmful rhetoric.

  • I inherently detest the concept of a "beauty standard". Something so subjective to each individual experience as "beauty" shouldn't have a standard, and a mentality or social culture that tries to establish or reinforce them is something I believe to be highly problematic.

Like in this very post, all the people who are admonishing body modification (injections, implants, piercings, tattoos, etc...). That has been a thing humans have done since ancient times. It is just a form of personal expression, there is nothing inherently wrong with the practice itself. It is the social expectations that makes those things appear uncomfortable at first glance instead of just a different but equally valid form of personal expression. A lot of the comments around them are very judgmental of the assumed reasons behind doing it, though, and it is because of societal "beauty standards" that people behave and think this way.

  • This seems to be the biggest flaw with people of the center and the left wing; most just cannot put themselves into the perspective of the right wing to critically analyze the logic behind the position.

You cannot judge a right wing policy decision from the perspective of the left. The goals and expectations are not the same, so of course it doesn't make sense when using the logical framework of the left/center.

Once you understand the logic behind, then you can begin to actually criticize how their logic is flawed from its premise instead of just claiming they are stupid people who don't know what they are doing.

  • Those practical methods would never have existed if not for Hertz' experiments. Those were 25 years of other scientists, having seen that this new concept exists, refining his contraption into what eventually would become the machine that we know as a radio.
