  • You don't need full communism, just make sure companies are owned by the workers

"Companies owned by the workers" is communism. That's literally what is meant by "shared ownership of the means of production".

The "means of production" is all the shit that companies own, such as the land, machines, buildings, raw materials, etc...

  • Paid mods I think are unlikely, why bother to make a change so unpopular? Milk this shit for a decade and press this button only when shit hits the fan.

Unfortunately, I think this will be likely because Nexus has almost entirely cornered the market on mods. It is the place people get their mods from if not the Steam Workshop.

People would have to actually abandon the convenience and go back to scrolling a bunch of games specific forums for their mods. I don't see that happening unfortunately and I'm pretty sure the executives at the new company know this. It's a common marketing tactic to exploit the sunk cost fallacy.

  • There are plenty, they just aren't as big or as well designed because they are just small forums, and most are usually game specific.

Nexus was unique in that it was a hub for the modding community, made specifically because people didn't want to have to browse hundreds of different forums to get their mods that may or may not be compatible with each other. It was a nice convenience while it lasted.

  • Nice whataboutism.

Too bad that hypothetical is statistically unlikely, as the extremely religious are predominantly pro-MAGA by an overwhelming amount, to the point it could be readily argued that, if your hypothetical was true, it would be done in spite of their religious beliefs, not because of it.

  • It's a satirical joke. Not like this regime hasn't been escalating in its practices of bypassing law and regulations already. What's one more broken regulation for some convoluted reason which will get zero push back on?

  • "Dead" is an adjective yes but that rule only applies if the adjective is describing that noun, but in this case it is being used as an adverb, which are usually placed after the verb unless the verb takes a noun, which in this sentence it does, making it grammatically incorrect.

  • Of course it isn't but you are the one who said that it was ridiculous that we haven't embraced it.

It isn't ridiculous. It's actually pretty expected of the society we have built to be against it. There are perfectly explainable reasons why we have yet to embrace it.

I don't say this to tell you it shouldn't change. I'm saying this to specifically highlight the things we need to change so that no one will be forced into doing it.

People do need to do what's best, so we should probably fix things so that being forced to use office work as a replacement for a social life isn't the best option people have available to them.

  • Naive to think that those who set the prices won't just adjust the baseline to absorb the entirety of your monthly allowance.

Better to just establish a system of community property that equitably shares and distributes necessities and the means of producing goods or providing services without the need to satisfy an arbitrary profit incentive of some private individual who will put their greed over your needs out of a sense of entitlement gained from their private ownership over such means.

  • Due to how isolating our culture and urban planning has become, a lot of people have started using their work as a replacement for their social life. Without it they realize just how caged they are under this system, so they refuse it. They think being given more free time and the ability to do work from the comfort of their own home is a bad thing because it takes away their social outlet.
