Great quote. It was Harris's "A Letter to a Christian Nation" that first woke me up to the idea that Christian moderates actually perpetuate the problem.
I followed you here from Reddit mate! Your post after the mod changes (that I can't seem to find now) turned me on to Lemmy generally. It took that most recent change to shake me loose from Reddit but I've been lurking here for a bit. Let's get this sub going. :)
Thank you for that. I relate to you on sports and video games. Men my age are always trying to start some sportsball conversation with me and I always opt out and get the weird looks. "Broncos might win tonight." Me: "is that basketball?"
Also, I personally don't like makeup, on anyone. I like to see people as they are. I don't see why there is a need for you to fit a gender. It sounds like you're really honest with yourself and I envy you that. Its taken me a long time to get halfway there. You could paint your nails for yourself someday when you're alone. Acetone undoes it quickly, as you probably know.
I did deconvert long ago though. I wish you luck with your spouse. That can be really tough. I've been married 14 years. Hit me up if you need to talk.
It’s a mess, and if one is so inclined, the progressive Christians have it right, in that it should be read as loose metaphor and myth.
The problem with progressive Christianity is this: It is still based on the Bible. It still indoctrinates children. Give any progressive family 3 generations and you will have 1 or more offspring back in the fundamentalist view. Because it is written in the Bible. Its a process that I'd argue repeats in Christianity historically.
Progressives and apologist don't get passes from me anymore.
nonbinary.
I'd be interested in understanding how you define nonbinary and how you came to that realization if you ever feel like sharing it.
Don't forget Reagan/Carter. Reagan manufactured the October Surprise, making a deal with terrorists to prolonging a hostage situation in Iran, just to tank Carter in the polls.
I don’t want a drastic overall of the SC, I just want to see more accountability.
Ok, agreed but can we do term limits next? This giving it to the whoever is the president when someone drops is bullshit. Especially now that the bar has been lowered so far for the office.
If he'd held out one more day it would have been 700k. 2 more days, 1.4M. 3 more, 2.8M.
i.e. Musk caved before it became consequential.
1.4B if he'd waited 2 weeks more. 23.4T (that's Trillion) if he wanted to shield Trump for a month. I'd say it was a heavy fine that worked as intended.
Pray for me. I think you're all supposed to touch my head and pray incoherently now, right?
also /s hopefully obviously.
