  • I have the 3440x1440 Alienware with PopOS (gnome). Like others have said it doesnt support HDR, but the monitor still looks amazing. VRR works fine, which to me was more important (but possibly because I've never actually used HDR before, even on Windows PCs).

You can't miss what you never had! But now that I have OLED i could never go back to IPS/VA...

  • And products that "remove" it replace it with glucose-fructose, or sometimes even pure fructose, which hilariously shows both that companies don't give a fuck, AND consumers are really stupid on average.

  • THAT is absolutely the same "point" I made when I first saw it?!!

Ok, so, the person was bad to show, I guess, but now it's an even better analogy to what the settlers did...

  • Not to go down a rabbit hole that's off topic, but I'm generally not offended by Steam's cut. The platform, advertising, centralizing, hosting, and cloud saves, etc etc, seem like a major benefit, especially for smaller developers, that would allow them to get to market faster, and with a much larger audience.

  • In this context, "liberals" is more generalizing capitalism-apologists. This is not "democrats vs republicans" type of liberals. This context is more used by communists/tankies/true-lefties.

full disclosure, I am also posting my general understanding - I am basic.

edit: also, sure are a lot of "serious" comments in this 196 rule posting. Pretty sure "rule" was not meant for intelligent debate.

  • Funny enough, if you "need it to look like windows 7" Mint looks pretty close.

but yes, prior to October my house was 5 windows PCs. A couple weeks ago it was officially 5 Pop machines. No prior Linux experience, except for copy-paste setup of a pihole.

  • I know it technically counts and all, but it bothers me that "mobile" is included in "video games". Mobile "games" are clickbaits and doomscrolls and it seems weird to compare them in the same graph as Nintendo/PC etc.

HOWEVER - in terms of REVENUE there is no denying how much money they make on mobile games! Probably due in part to the clickbait/doomscroll nature of them.

  • I also didn't like the way Mint looked/felt, even though I'm aware of its popularity and good reputation.

I'm on Pop!_OS which is mostly a GNOME desktop, but they do add [remove] features and it's very smooth and clean. I guess this is one of the miracles of "linux" where we can all be using "linux" but with 1500 different varieties.
