It looks as much like a hummingbird as a cloud can look like an elephant. The viewer has already been prompted to see a hummingbird, and humans are very good at finding a pattern in something random. I can easily believe it to be real, but I'm not sold on the idea that it particularly resembles anything significant.

From the outside it seems like this is what the majority of your voting public wanted, and the majority of your adult population were fine with it and chose not to vote. If it were the first time I would consider it as revealing a major flaw in your political system, but this is the second time, non consecutively, that this has happened. That just looks like this is representative of your people. Sorry.
A Stargate spin-off with a premise that leans away from Earth being so extremely overpowered like they were by the end of the show. Focus on feet-on-the-ground missions and exploration. Less space battles (but not none), more mysterious alien worlds.
This is framed like 80 generations is a small number, but that's huge. Culture and civilization moves so quickly that even 3 generations ago life is barely recognisable. I can't even imagine what life was like 40 generations ago.
From the stories I've heard, the husband and wife directors ran a terrible production with daily rewrites and an extremely unhappy cast and production team. I don't think studio meddling was the major factor there.
