  • "Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect."

They are going to be sued by Christians or the government itself. We are no longer a country bound by the rule of law.

  • I exclusively use ZigBee. It automeshes.

  • Pft. Rookie numbers. I've been leaving work 1-4 hours early as meetings allow.

  • The sad reality is that good journalism is expensive but no one wants to pay for it.

Even we, the readers who benefit from it, rarely want to actually pay for it.

  • Sadly yes. Ever since he became a "philanthropist", people come out of the woodwork to say he's "one of the good ones". I have to remind them that he may be "good" now but he can still pay his fucking taxes and be better.

  • Some sellers are delusional and think their house is special and that it will sell for more than they list, even expect it.

There have been times where I made an offer and the seller countered and based on their contingencies, I got the vibe that they were going to be an asshole through closing.

One seller even threatened to sue even though I was fully within my rights to walk away. My response to my agent was "tell them to serve me papers."

    Never heard from them again.

  • Not to defend this practice but my guess is that the firmware was released before Thanksgiving, but the owner didn't turn on the grill until Thanksgiving, which is when the grill picked up the firmware.

Guy is still an idiot for buying a device that REQUIRES Internet access.

  • They blame Obama on things that Trump has explicitly caused.

  • No. That's the point of an open primary. You can vote in either party's primarily.

I'm in a pretty red district. My primary vote is more powerful when voting Republican.

  • My state has open primaries and I vote in the Republican primary to fuck their shit up.

  • The way I read this graph is that the upper portion are people they want to oppress and the lower portion are people that they preserve is oppressing them.

  • I sort of get it. There are more boomers and even Gen-X people who are choosing to own a dumb phone just because of the sheer enshittification of the Internet.

    I get it.

  • I think what makes enshittification is "give users less and charge more". It's about returning shareholder value instead of customer value.

Netflix is a great example. They have pulled back on content, made password sharing more challenging, and increased cost. They still report increases in paying users.

They've done the math. They know they can take lost in users because they know they'll make up for it. That's the sad part in all of this.

  • This is a great compromise honestly. More OSS devs need to be paid for their work and if an anime character helps do that, I'm all for it.

  • The line demands you cut costs but also increase service.

The line demands it go up. It doesn't care how you get there. In many cases, decreasing service while also cutting costs is the way to do it so long as line goes up.

  • ELI5: Torrents require a way to send data and that's done through a port. Either you need to have a port available or someone else does. While you can upload without port forwarding, you're more likely to get higher connections if you have it turned on.

  • I don't understand why the billionaire class is scared. Can't they just leave? That's what bootlickers always say will happen if we raise taxes on them.

  • "many titles are designed from the ground-up to be rent seeking"
