  • Actually regardless of any type of video subject, really.

Any new video that I've seen, across many different subjects, has robotic comments right away, when the videos are first uploaded, the first minute or three.

I guess the YouTube folks are thinking that if it looks like there's a bunch of people "in the room" other people will want to jump in and join the conversation.

Then after that, you'll get robotic responses to your comments, that are usually antagonistic in nature, to try to bring you back to the YouTube app to reply to and continue interacting with the app.

  • NATO is dead

Somebody better tell them. In the meanwhile, their twin sibling, OTAN, will take over.

I wouldn’t be surprised if UKR already has or will obtain a nuke

I'd think they would have stopped their war by now if so.

Nuking Russian troops on its own territory would be fine

I'm sure Mr. Radiation will cooperate and not float over any innocent cities, and will stay inside of the political borders where the bomb went off.

I'm also sure that nobody would consider retaliating over something like that, as it would be taken as just a minor misunderstanding.

    And yes, /s .

  • And, in the meantime… what are we going to do about today’s situation, not the voting one in over a year and a half away?

Speak out, push back, network, protest, hold them accountable. Democracy.

You don't go full-Luigi until you've tried everything else.

  • Yeah, but I was quoting that "approximately half of us" number based on multiple polls, over time, and not just voting.

The nation is approximately 45% / 45% / 10%, in their belief systems.

In a very real sense we really are two nations occupying the same landmass.

I don't know if anyone will remember this, but way back in the ?late 80s?, back before the Internet, there was a TV mini series on ABC, where the Soviet Union invaded America, and won.

And there's a scene in that movie, at the end, where there's a couple of Soviet top military persons, and they're in front of a map of the US, and the US is split into multiple zones, with names like "Homeland", etc.

Then the one Soviet person askes the other Soviet person about how they will maintain control of the country.

The other Soviet person talks about how the US it's not just one people, but is just really groups of people, split in different area, divided, so they'll be easy to control and suppress.

I keep thinking back to that movie, and specifically to that scene, when I see what's going on today in the world.

About how we're divided, with everyone just looking out for themselves.

Edit: Here we go. What I described is discussed in the "Climax and resolution" and "The Divided States of America" sections of that article/page.

  • My understanding was that Ukraine did.

But also, since they were neighbors, you wouldn't need to launch missiles, you could just take the payload out of a missile, stick it in a briefcase, and walk it over.

  • They 100% planned to ambush Zelensky to make Trump look “tough”.

Honestly I don't think that was it.

I think just certain trigger words were hit and that set Trump off, and then when JD saw the hole Trump was digging himself in, tried to protect him politically, which just dug the hole even further down.

This was a pr stunt by Trump.

To be fair, every last one of these meetings in the Oval Office put on TV is a PR stunt, regardless of who's in the office.

  • Awesome that Zelensky kept his cool.

Especially when Trump was talking over him, and Zelensky asked to speak, and Trump said no you can't speak you've spoken enough.

That was really disrespectful, most people would have got really pissed off at that point.

  • Unfortunately, fans are cheering Trump on in social media about this.

Remind me who owns social media again?

  • Which makes me wonder, what is the breaking point for 78% of Americans, before they start burning it down, and building guillotines in front of ever federal building?

Let's get them all off the couch and to the voting booth first, and then we'll worry about Revolution later after that.

  • Every time another country signs a trade deal, an alliance, a pact, an agreement of any sort with the US, even if the current leadership is absolutely incredible, that can change dramatically on a dime within 4 years.

The "Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde" effect.

  • Yep, him trying to do hardcore protection politics at that point, during a conversation that included talking about World War 3, really disgusted me as well.

I was thinking "Damn, this isn't helping, JD".

  • I would’ve stood up ... and walked out.

He's trying to save his country and the people in it, and he really can't forsake any help he could get.

He, at least, is keeping level-headed, as much as one can in those circumstances.

  • Will there be anymore goodwill for the USA?

As an American, my hopes and prayers are that the World will remember that approximately half of us are being held hostage inside of the clown car, and are being forced to go along for the ride.

  • I wanted to point out something about what Trump said during that meeting...

“You’re in a bad position right now. You don’t have the cards.”

My understanding is that Ukraine did have the cards, they were called nukes, but they gave them up for peace and guarantees of protection from the United States, and others, against invasion.

    And then, they got invaded.

    Twice.

Edit2: Always pay attention to what the other hand is doing.

  • I'd rather not engage with you at all beyond informing you of what i just did

The option to block me is available to you.

You and others don't have to repeatedly comment that you disagree with me using a footer, you can just block me.

I am grateful nobody else is doing this though. It would make it unbearable to read any comments.

People have had footer sections in their comments since the beginning of the Internet and somehow commenting and posting continued to exist.

If Lemmy wanted to give me a better way of licensing my comments that others would see, when they're reading my comments, and most importantly, that is supported by law, I would be all for it.

Otherwise, I use a small font text to minimize the impact of the footer, something I don't have to do.

  • Your use of Firefox must follow Mozilla’s Acceptable Use Policy

That sentence says you have to obey the AUP, and the AUP says what it say about porn, gambling sites, etc.

The only part of the Acceptable Use Policy that pertains to products is “You also may not sell, resell, or duplicate any Mozilla product or service without written permission from Mozilla.”

    [Citation Required]

Otherwise, you're just attempting to obfuscate in an intellectually dishonest way.
