  • really? I've managed it a few times and it honestly wasn't all that hard. I moved one of them in with me for a bit due to an extreme life situation they were going through.

  • It's kind of hard to do something about it (legally) when the oversight and accountability investigators are shut down.

  • Ever think that wisdom teeth were supposed to be the replacements from back when our life expectancy was like 30?

  • At the start of 2023 there wasn't one for me. I was in a rut and generally felt that if I didn't spend the money on myself, my SO would. About 6 months later I had one entire paycheck vanish midway through the week from excessive takeout purchases (150+ daily) and quickly set a budget. We each get about 200 a week for 'allowance' to do with as we please, about another 200 for food for both of us, and the rest was going into aavings/toward bills, but then in November I realized just how little the principle on the credit card we haven't used in two years was being paid with auto-pay and diverted the savings money towards that.

Currently, I've knocked down the CC by a third, plan to get it under control by march of work keeps up, then going back into savings and continuing with the basic plan.

  • Ruffle has gotten to the point that I can share the joy of this beauty again. I regret nothing.

  • While not exactly what you're looking for, I thought the idea might inspire you somewhat.

I present to you Simone Giertz retractable puzzle table.

Edit: as to what to look out for.. As long as you're specific about wants and needs for the table, there shouldn't be any issues. Shopping around for materials both wood and otherwise are going to be something you'll want to source yourself. Provide some decent plans and be abundantly clear on the usage and intention of the table.

And if you're going to have the dining top be a monolithic slab of material, make sure one person can reasonably lift it. Don't go grabbing some dense hardwood and making that thing a beast to remove.

  • Exploited workers? In this capitalist hellscape? I don't believe it!

Though honestly most local places I've been in are doing much better for their workers than any of the corporate run chains. Most are either family run, or community local places.

  • That heavily depends on location. Here in Philly competition among food places is so tight that a lot of places offer a better deal than the chains and have much better products.

  • Such intelligent design.

  • Macaroons. I have made them from scratch. I can appreciate the sophisticated sublime expression of culinary caution it takes to split egg white, whip them until hard peaks, and then gently and precisely fold in the other ingredients to get the flavor you are after... But holy hell is it tedious with lots of potential for failure most of the way.

Alternatively, making cinnamon rolls from scratch. Not because it's hard, just because it takes too long. I believe the recipe I was using allowed the dough to rise three separate times. Simple enough to make, but planning ahead for them to be breakfast is a 16:00 the previous day commitment.

  • Depends on the game.

Monster hunter: they get the cute armor sets. Dudes get the fat armor sets, while that version of the lady armor is something like a mecha teddy bear.

Social games: I aim for the more gender neutral looks, and for whatever reason guys are almost always bulky. It's usually somewhat possible to get a female avatar to look guyish. And if it's using voice chat, there is very little question.

Online MMOs: I have set male and female character tropes/character types that have been developed for 20ish years at this point. Coskii is an axe welding merchant or as close to that as I can manage. My thief is a lady, archer is a guy, wizard is a guy, and sorcerer is lady.

Single player whatevers: it depends on the character sounds. Sometimes games can get a bit excessive with their sound design, and for whatever reason make the guy voice sound like he's constipated for every sound effect.

  • Sounds like you were handling some asbestos, because that is flame retardant is absolutely cancerous.

  • Same God that 'decided' a year shouldn't land on a whole day. Threw in that .25 for shits and giggles.

  • Is the earth flat?

    Jump
  • The important part is that there's not a small section of the population which will take all speculation and no science for easily disprovable things to heart rather than challenge their world view. It's oddly fitting that the flat earth is so dumb to them, but many other similarly false takes will sway them wholly.

  • It was the last console of extremely unique games, most of which were absolute bangers. Rez is still one of my absolute favorite games of all time. Space channel 5, crazy taxi, jet set radio, shenmue, seaman, chu chu rocket, power stone, techromancer, and many many many others.

  • It's a pretty simple stance to take, you know the "don't go around killing/maiming/terrorizing/raping random civilians" stance. It shouldn't be hard to say "treat people with respect". No matter if they are friend, enemy, or bystander.

  • Depends on what the players are after.

I prefer warframe due to being able to actively work towards goals in a visually progressing way, but can see the appeal of a haloesque contol scheme fps with randomized loot.

Both are grindy in different ways, and warframe doesn't quite know how to introduce new content without dumping or a few more currencies and yet another group that has a reputation system to be plunked into.

  • Uhh.. Soy.. Soy sauce.

  • It would be helpful to understand what types of games the kid was playing in the first place to suggest alternatives. I ripped this answer from quora on how to see which games within roblox your child was playing

    • Game History: Roblox used to have a "Game History" feature that allowed users to view a list of recently played games. This feature showed the last few games you played, but it was limited in terms of historical data. It's worth checking if this feature is still available in your account settings.
    • Roblox Account Activity: You can check your Roblox account's activity feed, which may show some information about recent game interactions and achievements. However, this feed typically doesn't display a comprehensive game history.
    • Roblox API: Some third-party websites and tools may offer services that attempt to retrieve and display more extensive game history data by accessing Roblox's API. Be cautious when using third-party services and make sure they are reputable and secure.

I went looking for any kind of account tracker and to no one's surprise they are mostly about account value from items, not so much about worlds/experiences they have been on.

Most of the responses I've seen on here are just suggesting games which may or may not be to your kids looking purely based on those games being generally accepted as good.
