  • It's a nice message, but the dude literally showed himself clearing the engine of water, checking the singular spark plug, and then just starting it up with very little else in the way of actually tinkering, exploring, or otherwise discovering. I know it's a short video format but the actual video content seems to only be there to serve that message.

  • And just like that, the boundary testing from the American extremists started their next chapter. Let's see how this labrat does. If he gets away they'll burn others offices, if those succeed, they'll start with private residences. Inch by inch, they will become more aggressive. If someone gets caught, they pull back a bit.. But it doesn't stop until they have something larger to point their extremism in the direction of.

  • Tangential story time. I play a lot of video games, mmo's being the norm. A few years ago one came out that I was hooked on not just as a game but also a social platform. I met many people on there and knew them better than I know some of my friends.

One of them set a goal for herself. She wanted a billion in game currency, and it was possible. She spent several months and enough real world money to end up in some fairly deep debt, but I only heard that from others who were closer.

Being outside of her unguarded group, she randomly asked me what I would do of I had a billion currency in the game. I thought about it for a few minutes and responded "I'd probably quit the game". Confused, she asked me why.

It's a pretty simple concept, if I had accumulated that level of wealth in game, that meant one of two things had occured: either I had nothing left to spend the currency on, or the inflation had gotten so bad that only the wealthiest players could participate.

That mindset doesn't work with the rich. They can do and get whatever they want with their wealth, but they're more focused on getting a big number more than actually just enjoying it freely and openly.

Eating the rich is decimating the concept of a high score financially. Fostering altruism and attempting to make the world a better place for all. The absolute wealth some people in this world have could do so much good if it weren't being hoarded.

Taxing the rich is a hard fight with so many loopholes and outs that it will take forever. Changing the mindset is basically impossible as well, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't try every available means.

  • Yeah, this boils down to "does the bond company have the money and was the bond issuer authorized to issue the bond"

It will get interesting if they for whatever reason can't provide these two formalities, but I'm not holding my breath.

  • Last year's collard greens survived the winter and have continued thriving, so getting to start the season with a harvest is nice. Other than that, carrot seedlings are getting started, two grape saplings are rooting nicely, though they won't likely bloom for a few years, and some herbs are beginning in the seeding stage for now.

  • Answers by survey... I'm not sure exactly how much I trust those results in either direction.

  • These are actually new? I could have sworn they were the same posts from other stuff either last year or the year before with the place name changed. I know I've read that blm one almost exactly before this.

  • Round about a day or two. I'd likely make an oopsie while letting the zoo animals out and get myself slaughtered.

  • Cool, now make them use bytes as the system of measurement and we'll be on to something.

  • My base comment was more about the 32 hour work week studies which usually coincide with bills of this nature, showing improved productivity and so the lobbyists overlords had nothing to worry about from the change.

As much as I enjoy my work, making end meet isn't ever a simple task.

  • It would have been really nice to have had him as a president for a term. He'd be doing all the same things he's doing now, but with more authority. It would have been really interesting to watch mainstream media have a meltdown over everything he put forward.

  • I specifically mentioned not much heavy lifting. The most taxing work I've had to do in the past few months was yesterday, lifting a solid core exterior for into place. And the entire second half the day was recovery while I finger painted with wood putty on all the doors and trim.

Regardless of my personal work situation, I can't deny that there would be mental and health benefits for shorter work weeks. I just really don't think that more work would get done in less time, which is what a lot of studies on "office" work seem to say.

  • I'm not opposed to a 4 day work week, but I am always curious as to what jobs the studies have looked at to conclude that people with 4 work days instead of 5 do the same amount or more work.

I'm a construction worker. Despite the jokes about standing around, we work hard. I do not think that a 4 day work week would produce better results than a 5 day in my field.

Just for reference I've been doing home rehabilitations for lower income families. There's not a ton of heavy lifting, there's just a lot to do.

Also, a lot of guys in my line of work also work side jobs on their days off.

  • In no particular order:

    1. Half minute hero: quirky, quick, hilarious, and a bit stressful at times. It's a perfect mobile title.
    2. Disgaea: infinitely scaling/playable strategy rpg. You can power through the game pretty quickly, or take your time and slowly become a god so strong that even friendly healing spells miss you.
    3. Patapon (2 and 3): rhythm based game about using drum commands to get your little dudes to complete missions.
    4. Dj max (any/all):dance dance revolution for your thumbs. Korean game featuring Korean artists. One of my favorite continuing series.
    5. Monster hunter (freedom through portable 3rd): action rpg all about them boss fights. Kill monsters, use their parts to hunt tougher monsters in a game all about incremental progression, inventory management, and learning movement patterns to git gud.
    6. Patchwork hero: do you like the dig dug stages where you slice off bits of the land to drop enemies into the water? This is that except they are airships and you must defend your homeland
    7. Lumines (1 and 2): musical game about matching colors and making combos in a tetris-esque style game. The devs went on to make tetris effect.
    8. Cladun 2: so I heard you like action rpgs, infinite scaling, pixel art, and enough grindy systems that even my power tools get jealous. Enter Cladun.

I'm wondering if I missed any I spent a disproportionate amount of time on.. But these were the first ones to pop into my head.

Edit: I am finally home so I can look over my games... and I definitely forgot a couple.

    1. LOCO ROCO! It's a very simple platformer in which you guide your little dudes through stages by using the L and R to tilt the stage. You collect fruits to increase your dude into a larger dude, or several dudes, depending on the situation.
    2. N+ Be a platforming Ninja, die a lot.. like a lot a lot. It's.. simple and hard and so satisfying to clear one set of 4 stages at a time. You can even make your own stages if you're feeling up to the challenge.
  • Third times the charm eh?

  • Definitely not wrong. Also using the multiverse and time splices to select only the best eggs is surely some kind of time crime.

  • I mean.. I'm giving them their own unique universes to live in. I don't think they're being abused.

  • Last game I've played was egg, inc. It's a mobile idle "numbers go up" game.. There's nothing overtly criminal, so probably tax evasion or something on my trevigintillion bocks.

  • That link is extremely helpful. It seems like you're fine to attach cabinets to the wall after drywall. The osb is tied into some serious wood framing behind it, and as long as you're using fasteners that reach into the osb, it should be about as solid as you could want.

The kitchen metal grumpydaddy suggested isn't expressly needed here, but that's the most I'd consider doing to it.

  • College tuition is a weird bird. Some colleges allegedly have attempted to lower prices for tuition and found that they had less students, claiming something about perceived value and standards.

I'm pretty sure it's all bullshit, but I'm definitely not running a study on pricing.
