  • I miss a lot of the smaller dedicated communities. There were a lot there were essentially mirrored from Reddit but a lot of the userbase disappeared. They are widely federated and posts get votes and comments but there's not a lot of people putting out content.

What I don't miss is the power mods and all the auto mods. They just get tiring.

  • I haven't seen a lot of people get upset about altered titles on Lemmy. I feel like there's a general understanding that an accurate title is better.

Some people cite the article's original headline in the text below the submitted link.

  • Why not edit the title to be a little bit less clickbait?

    Maybe something like:

Mark Kelly, A Possible Democratic Veep Pick, Just Changed His Position On Protecting the Right to Organize Act

  • I once got flak for linking the NSFW source behind an image in a piracy community and someone got mad about it like your workplace is going to be thrilled about you looking for pirated content in a Fake Taxi meme

  • The amount of conspiracy theories would be unreal

  • Ah how about GRUB Rescue?

  • Upgrade to Windows 11 today!

    Or

Microsoft Word has periodic automatic saving!

Are some I could see in a dystopian future

  • It probably doesn't help that it's abandonware and was limited largely to the PC and Xbox 360.

A lot of people only hear about it in "top abandonware games" lists that would mention it and games like Alpha Protocol which was recently relisted.

  • Do you have any other games where the first hour was extremely enjoyable?

I felt that way about Returnal

  • I feel like 2006 was a bit like a rollercoaster. You kind of just enjoy the ride and eagerly await what's coming next. It helps it's a relatively short game by today's standards with HowLongToBeat saying it will take seven hours to complete.

  • If you've played prop hunt and like randomly beating objects to find out what's people you'll probably like 2017.

In all seriousness though it is a good game that has a decent amount of fun frantic chaotic combat. I feel like it's a bit difficult to compare to other games but if I had to I'd say it reminds me a bit of BioShock and Control

  • I'd say it's pretty predictable and comes in waves as issues come up.

For example some people from exploding-heads posting rightwing content outside their instance before they were widely defederated.

Another example is when illegal content was being posted in large communities and Lemmy.world started blocking users from posting/commenting using a VPN.

Other than that it's a lot of knowing your audience.

  • Is this for hammering down fence posts?

  • YEAA

  • When I was a teenager I nearly got arrested for trespassing. There was a way to get on top of a building and I was dared to check it out.

  • They're also called evaporator coolers. I am not sure if the word swamp refers to it performing a function that might be found around a swamp or how they operate.

Maybe the pool of water at the bottom is referred to as a swamp.

I linked the video but it's been a while since I watched it. I am not sure if he explains the nomenclature.

  • Kind of related but here's a video from Technology Connections if you want to learn more about swamp coolers and why they only work in specific conditions

  • I feel like the SpongeBob movie releasing when it did probably helped the SpongeBob video game sales around that time. I recall SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom and The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie doing pretty well

  • I told a coworker this once and they went from saying African Americans to just loudly whisper the word black like it was a derogatory term.
