  • All the web integrity thing would do is force them to use a specific client when accessing YouTube to scrape their site.

The problem is none of the attested browsers will let you to use them in this way.

We already have DRM for video on the web. I believe it would be a similar problem to getting WideVine L1 content from e.g. Netflix in an open source app.

  • It's a totally valid approach. Most of the answers in this thread involve booting some non windows thing, and running a tool that will do exactly this behind the scenes.

Edit: there are also a lot of much more terrible answers that involve file-level copying that will definitely not work.

  • I was just going to post the same thing. I actually split downloading duties with a friend of mine when we both had 1 (or maybe 2?) hr / day on our ISPs.

We even used coloured floppies to colour code the package sets.

  • Yeah, doing it with the keyboard is key. I know some terminals have a way to do it, but it's so ingrained in my muscle memory that I struggle without it, and having something that works everywhere (including try) is nice.

  • I didn't see this mentioned, but by far the thing I depend on tmux for the most is being able to quickly copy and paste text from the terminal. e.g. grabbing a file name from the output of git diff. How does everyone else do this?

Another cool one is being able to attach to a session on my phone to check on something, and have it automatically resize without disconnecting my desktop.
