With the forced upgrade to windows 11 a lot of older mini PCs are getting flooded on to ebay. A little i3 or i5 7th gen with be massively faster then a pi. Plus sips power when idle and completes tasks quicker
I remember my first custom ROM on a HTC and it was amazing ! Soooo fast, new features etc.
Samsung s3 was pretty good & really fast,
s8 was ok but it did make the camera crap.
S10 really quite bad camera plus thanks to google play stuff I can't run most of my tasker stuff.
I still use 3.5mm headphones, aux cables etc so that will be the deciding factor in my next phone. If I can run a custom ROM thats a bonus in my eyes (tho if the camera is bad I'll go stock)
I mean you can cook on an cars engine exhaust (tho good luck finding a place now they the engine bay is just plastic covers) or cook a fish in a dishwasher (wrapped in tin foil)
What res is that monitor ? My 2k monitor is pretty hungry compared to my old 1080. Even just looking at the uk energy efficiency ratings for 4k tells shocks me !
Being a uk person its cause they can & its also in to building / electric code.
Its just a switch that breaks the live leg, stops sparking when plugging in stuff.
I use Linux mint, then use advanced emulation launcher to launch things that kodi doesn't have but I want to use, like ESDE. Its a pain to remember custom thing I setup on it but I used to use the official kodi os (before the stopped it quite a few years ago)
I run snapraid and mergerfs, as the nas storage. Not much changes on my NAS and the stuff I really care about like my pictures and videos are on a small ZFS pool. Both are directly on proxmox, meaning I can just plug them in to another Linux machine and research if it all goes sideways.
Its all shared from the host via SMB NFS or for jellyfin and immicher its a moint point for the container
Love mine ! Tho yea if kodi didn't do hardware decode on a video it sounded like a jet engine !
